Hello All, Wow! What a wonderful thread! It took me about a week and a half... but I have completed the entire thing from start to finish. :) With that said, my fiance and I were engaged December 25, 2011 and now planning a destination wedding for May 2013. After much contemplating, St. Lucia seems like the perfect destination... besides cost, bugs and humidity! :) I hope this official thread picks up for new brides and I will definitely be apart of it myself. Thanks St. Lucia brides, past and present, for all your input. I truly feel knowledgable and like I have many friends who validated and overcame some of our same concerns. Best wishes... and Happy Weddings! <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi everyone!

It has been a while since my last post but I just wanted to offer my help if any of you are getting married in St. Lucia.  We got married there 11 months ago and I still dream about Jade Mountain and St. Lucia! We will celebrate our first anniversary at home this year with a baby boy due on the same day than our anniversary!

Please do not hesitate if you have any question regarding the island, weather, ect..

Happy planning!

Hi there!

So, I have a question about the humidity... We are getting married at the Jalousie Plantation on May 17, 2013 at 4pm.... I wanted to wear my hair down, but now I'm thinking that won't even be an option if it's so hot and humid... and nevermind the makeup. rolleyes.gif

I'm having my dress made because I want something lighter and all the dresses I've tried on so far are really heavy or satin.... I'm just hoping to be comfortable at this point. Any pointers? I'm also concerned about the mosquitoes, but there's not much I can do about that.

Any other advice about the weather is appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi r614!

Congrats!

I encourage you to read one of my previous post on this thread, you find find much info about styling according to the weather.

Your dress will be fine (I had a big silk and tulle dress) and was fine in the hot days of July! A mermaid style (with the legs very tight) would be more difficult to wear in this kind of weather.

No worries for the mosquitoes...i did not have any when I was there, except one night at the beach LATE at night.

Also, like I said in my previous post, it is windy so I choose a long veil and I am really glad my hair were up, they stayed perfect all day.  The wind and the humidity would not have worked well for my hair.  Makeup was fine too, I brought touch up make up for the reception but did not even use it.

Happy planning!

Hi St. Lucia brides!

Just wondering if there are any other brides who will be getting married at Windjammer Landing. I'll be married there this November! We stayed there last year and actually got to see a friend's wedding at the venue. It's really beautiful. My only worry is that the beach isn't as private as I would have liked so we may choose to go with a ceremony in the garden.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
