Wow since I have been on last, we St. Lucia Brides have been accomplishing alot cheesy.gif.  I'm so happy to hear everyone's plans are coming along so nicely. Monica, you have me a little worried though, because we're traveling in November '11 and we didnt't get the travel insurance! I may try to contact my TA and see if I still can get it or if not, maybe I can through another company. I saw another bride noted that the cost of St. Lucia has made many guests change thier minds. I am sending out my invitations this week, but I've alreaday heard some grumbling about the cost. But my fiancee is happy to see our numbers getting smaller, cause hs said he wants me all to himself after the wedding, lol. I told people to make whatever choice they have to make financially cause I won't take it personally (but it is draining to hear guests continue to grumble anyway....but on to a happier note). I saw a bride asking about Out of town/wedding favor bags for the guests. I want to do the same. Many brides have already gave great suggestions, but put out of town bags or wedding favors in the search box, and a bunch of threads will come up with tons of ideas.

I'm sending out my invites this week and I hope to have a final count by 3/15! I'm anxious to see how many people will actually come....

I have gotten travel insurance on trips as close to the date as a week before!  The only issue would be pre-existing medical conditions (may not apply if you get ins close to the date) or weather issues that are known about (which obv isn't the case if you buy the ins a month out or more).

On another note- I think we have pushed our date earlier to February rather than April... I was trying to schedule my time away from my kids around their school breaks (so we booked over spring break)  but they also get a week off in Feb.  That way we can book our AHR the first weekend in March and save a TON by having it be "off peak" which around here (Seattle) is really crucial.  I think we decided to have our AHR at a venue, and somewhere that caters themselves.  Our plans for an AHR at my fiance's parents house was getting too crazy- and I was butting heads already with his step mom on the planning front.  We just need our budget from them and then we can start touring venues when we get back from our vacation in a cpl weeks!

So it looks like we will be flying out red eye Feb 14th, arriving in St Lucia the 15th.  Hopefully we can get married the next day- I have heard there is a special license to do a next day arrival- does anyone know anything about that?)  and then stay a total of 7 nights in St. Lucia.  After that we are headed to FL to board a 4 day cruise through the Bahamas, and getting back to Seattle Feb 26th.

Wow, I haven't been on here for a while, and it's good to see the thread so active!

JessMarie, we paid $150 to expedite our wedding, but that is through Sandals...not sure about the cost everywhere else.  That is a long flight from Seattle!  We are lucky we are just heading down from Atlanta.

I am getting pretty excited as Sarah is finishing up my St. Lucia boarding pass invites this week.  We sent out STD's back in August, so these are just the formal part.  I am excited to get a final count and start looking forward to the fun stuff!  If you haven't ordered invitations yet, Sarah at Sproullie designs is creating mine.  Here is the link...

If that doesn't work, just go to etsy.com and type in st. lucia boarding pass.  I can't wait to send them out!

Hi:)

So, the expedition is what I want to do- we will arrive on a Wed early afternoon...ay chance of getting married the next day? Or is is the day after that?  We still need to book our resort and I am sure I will get the answers when I talk to the wedding planner but I am curious:)

And yes- it's a 12 hr flight to St. Lucia for us:(  Luckily on our way home we are splitting our flight- we are flying 7 hours into Orlando and then going on a cruise for the last 4 days of our weddingmoon, then flying home 5 afterwards:)

So our itinerary is now as follows:

Feb 14th- leave Seattle red eye

Feb 15th- arrive in St. Lucia early afternoon

Feb 16th- wedding

Feb 17-21 honeymoon (5 full days after our wedding should give us lots of time to do activities since it's just us)

Feb 22- leave for Orlando, FL- stay overnight

Feb 23- leave for cruise to the Bahamas

Feb 26- home to Seattle

March 3rd- reception

I am feeling good about having our dates completely set, and now that we changed it to off season more venue options are available to us (cost wise)

Welcome to the forum Crystalg3!

You will find the forum very useful!

Where are you from ?

I will get married at Jade Mountain this summer and all my guests will be staying at Anse Chastanet.

I am sure you can not go wrong with your choice.  The only advice I would give (read my previous posts) is that Anse Chastanet is more expensive so it is best suited for intimate weddings.  A lot of guests can not attend for that reason.  And even if you consider renting a villa for them, they won't save money when you add all the little extra.  Well, I do not want to be negative here (sorry if it sounds like that.)  I just want to share my experience so you are not disappointed like I was.

Karolin, the owner, is a pleasure to work with.  Another bride from here will get married at AC in July too.  So we can both help you before and after! Have you book your date with the resort yet?

Happy planning!

Awesome plans Jess Marie!

I am from Vancouver so I understand the long flights you are going into!

For the special license, I would double check with the resort, specially since you arrive on a Sunday in St.Lucia.

(You said it's a Wednesday but on my calendar, Feb.15 2012 is a Sunday?..sorry if I am wrong).

In my case, I will arrive on a Saturday, and get married on the Monday.  The resort said it was ok (with the license surcharge) since the lawyer and paper work will be done at the resort before we get there and they will come to our resort upon arrival or on Monday morning. I will met the wedding coordinator on the Monday morning for the last minute details.  Most of the planning will be done before we arrive. We will still have Tuesday to Saturday to enjoy as husband and wife (5 days).

It's a personal choice but I like the idea of having one complete day in St Lucia before the wedding, just in case something happens.  That way, I can do a group activity the day before the wedding, enjoy the spa and make sure everyone is not on an extreme jet lag fatigue since my trip also involves a red eye flight for fiance and I.  I think also that I will have more time to put together the last minute details.  But once again, it's a personal decision and the resort will be able to give you the best answer regarding the legal part.

Let me know what you think!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
