Catholic Church Ceremony

Recommended Posts

I have a question for brides who are doing this.

What are the costs associated with this?

I know that there is a donation fee, but how much is your WC charging you for this?

Is anyone organizing this on their own?

My WC is charging almost $2500! (includes legal ceremony with all the prep. associated with it, guidence in collecting documentation for church, Preist, decor, fans for guests, donation, and "transportation for all wedding equipment to and from venue")

I've emailed her to cut out the legal ceremony b/c we do not need that and to ask what the customary donation is. I forgot to ask what she means by the last service.

This seems like a lot of money to me, but I wanted to compare to how much others are paying.

Honestly I'm not sure, but that seems a little high to me. I am doing a Catholic ceremony a few days before I head down to P.V. just because it just seemed easier.

But it will be cool to have your legal marriage in Mexico. You may want to check around online for other WC's just to see what they quote you. Good luck :)

I think in cancun we're paying around 200 dlls for the church.. (If we get married in the church)..

I was thinking of having my aunt call for me. I remember reading somewhere that the donation is only $50. But I think what she quoted me is rather high, even if she is including decor.

Thanks girls.

I honestly have no idea. Maybe ask Edyta or Tammy M how much they are donating since they are getting married in Churches (even though it is in Cabo, it will at least give you an idea). This is why I am going to get married in a church in NY before I leave. It will make it easier, even though I know here it is about $800 total (no decor) and we have to do precanor.

Thanks Anny,

I'll check when I get home. I don't even know which church to have the wedding at. I've only seen pictures of 2 (the main one and one that is by a park??) I can't find pics of any other church in PV but I do have a list of addresses and phone numbers.

Thanks Anny! Pictures always help. I am trying to find the closest church to Dreams. I'm afraid of having the ceremony at the main church because its a major tourist attraction but I would love having pics in front of the church. so I am still considering it.

I don't mean to highjack your thread Amy but I have a sort of related question. Did anyone get married in church at home and then have their wedding in Mexico? I am meeting with my priest next week but I am scared about telling him about my wedding in Mexico. I feel like he will frown upon this and make my life a living nightmare all through precanor.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
