Thanks for the compliments ladies. I spent several hours posting the pictures and adding captions on friday night, and then most of the day saturday (probably about 5-8 hours in total!) writting the review. It's actually 20 pages long in microsoft word, everybody here thinks I'm nuts for writing such a long review (husband included - man, still getting used to using that word!), but I told them you ladies would appreciate it. So it's great to get so many compliments.

The white tulle is the resort's. I had brought my own, but used it to decorate my balcony and my bed (it's a 4 poster bed, but it didn't have any white material handing over it like some of their other beds, and I was disappointed about that so I decorated it with my tulle). Initially Landy thought they may run out of white so I told her she could come steal if from my balcony if necessary since the gazebo was more important, but they ended up having enough.

For the turquoise part it's one big bolt of tulle, It is 54" wide (although comes doubled, the stuff is so thin!) and 120 feet (i.e. 40 yards) long. I bought the tulle from Idea Ribbon- Wholesale organza bags Organza Ribbon Organza Bags wedding tulle accessories $.09 Each Start- POWERED BY WEB 2.0 because they had the cheapest price I could find (and my parents were in the US for the winter so I had it shipped there to save money, since I am in Canada). The one I got was turquoise, but it ended up being way more green then shows on their website (i.e. almost like the mint green one)

I also bought small spools (6" wide) of tulle from them and that is what was used for the chair ribbons. I assumed DT would have the material for the ribbons, thank goodness I decided to bring the small tulles just in case, Landy said they didn't have the right color. This tulle was a darker green (although matched well), but when I check the idea ribbon website now I can't seem to find the right color.

I got the starfish from Micheals, they are the 6-8" ones that sell for 3,50$ regular price here (went back 10 times to get them with a 40% off coupon, yes, I'm that cheap!) There are other websites that sell them for cheaper, although for me shipping killed the deal i.e. conch king Romantic Gifts Tropical Island Nautical Home Decor Housewarming Ideas: Legendary Shells

you'll see from my answer above that I got the tulle from the american website idearibbon. I'll be looking at selling it when I am done with my receptions though and you could save on shipping since you are in Ottawa so send me a PM if you'd be interested in buying it off me (available in July). I actually have 2 bolts of turquoise and 5 bolts of white.

The last bouquet in the picture is from the resort (I only used it as a centerpiece) and the aisle and gazebo flowers are from the resort.

There was no fuss at all and as even complementing me on my great ideas, as though she enjoyed doing something different (although the actual decorating work was done by 2 guys, she ordered the flowers and then went over to check-up on them as they decorated).

I should take up a job like this! I enjoy being critical of stuff and very detailed, my husband says I am way too long winded and that the same information could have been much shorter (he only read half the review and then gave up!) but he didn't do the planning so he doesn't realize why all the little details matter. I bitch to him all the time about crappy website layouts that I encouter (i.e. bad layouts, unclear information, information overload). He's a software developer, he doesn't work with website, but it's still his industry so he appreciates my eye for good web layouts and he says that I should make that my job.

What a great review! So detailed and very well organized! I'm not getting married there and I felt very informed. LOL. Thank you so much for sharing all this info, I know the Tulum brides must be so happy right now. I'm glad you had a wonderful wedding, your pics look amazing. You look absolutely gorgeous and I loved everything including your dress and the way you wore your hair. Absolutely PERFECT! thewave.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
