Congratulations, you looked absolutely gorgeous and so happy. you did a great job of everything. Your beach review is scaring me a little as the beach is the most important thing (next to good prices and a free wedding package) we are wanting for our trip. If you could do it all again, what would your second and/or third choices be for a resort?

Try not to worry too much about the beach. Although my fiance is usually in the water all the time, and he wasn't on this vacation, when I complain about it he keeps trying to convince me the beach wasn't that bad! I think part of the reason we didn't swim much was that we were busy with other stuff. It's funny how when you don't have something, you adjust to not having it. It definitely didn't affect the vacation all that much. If you really want to swim, you will swim anyways.

Also keep in mind that my vacation 4 months ago was in Punta Cana, where the beach is so so amazing, the entire beach is as good as at the tulum ruins!

I haven't been to other resorts in the mayan riviera, so I can't recommend a resort with a better beach. If you check out the Loco Gringo aerial photos you can see how rocky the beach is all along the mayan riviera coast.

For example here is Dreams tulum:

I have heard that the Palladium have some good spots on the beach:

same for the Barcelo:

Based on these photos, the beach at the Catalonia seems to be great (but it's only a 4 or 4.5 star hotel)

and the beach at the Riu looks fabulous based on these pictures, but I heard from a co-worker that it's very narrow (not lots of sand) and crowded

I am a fellow Dreams Tulum bride and just want to thank you for the amazing and detailed review!!! The pictures are amazing and give me an even better idea of what dreams looks like. Your pics are wonderful you look beautiful... I love love love what you did with the gazebo I might have to steal your idea!! It is so nice to hear and see everything turn out so well, I have been a little nervous because the communication with sandra and landy isn't very good.... Congrats and thanks again!!!! Oh one question, did you just plan/pick everything when you got there or did you go over anything by emailhuh.gif I assume you choose everything once you sit down with sandra because they aren't so great with email....

Yes pretty much everything was done when I got there (well, in terms of making decisions with them, I had done most of the planning on my own beforehand). I had emailed them to clarify what I needed to bring (i.e. material for the gazebo) but nothing was set in stone. About a month or two before your wedding you get a form to fill out where they ask tons of questions about what you want (location, dinner, music, photos, video, etc) but you can change all that when you arrive.

Bring lots of inspiration pictures. I had 3 different gazebo inspiration pictures and she thought my favorite one was do-able so we went ahead with that. I also brought 2-3 different inspiration photos for the aisle decoration, one for the starfish on the chair, and one for the small flower arrangement on the gazebo column. Everything they did turned out very very close to my inspiration photos.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
