Anyone plan their wedding in under 6 months???

Recommended Posts

So we have set our date for the wedding to be the week of October 5th to plan it around fall break so our nieces/nephews could go and because half of my side of the family is in the school system. Everyone knows we are planning to go to Mexico but we still don't have a resort booked because I just can't seem to make up my mind! I'm starting to get a little stressed about getting everything done!!! Basically, I just need someone to tell me they planned their DW in under six months and it turned out okay so I know it can be done!

i have a little over six months and i don't even have a date yet wink.gif

i'm not worried. I already feel like i have too much time to plan, meaning that I really just want to find a place and do some flowers and music and not get too crazy. the more time i have the more i want to do, and then the more stressed out I will get.

Its definitely do-able!

We planned ours in 6 months and everything was wonderful. We also eloped. lol. But you can do it no matter how big. The resort takes care of most of the big stuff. Just concentrate on what is most important to you in terms of the little things (favors, invites, oot bags, etc.). If you try to incorporate too much, you will get overwhelmed. Also, delegate responsibility. Even though we eloped, there were a lot of tasks to complete including our AHR so my husband and i split up tasks and checked in with each other. But seriously, you'll be amazed on how it will all come together.

We got engaged Christmas Day, then finally decided on our resort sometime in February, and got married July 5th (close to 5 months, I think). It was very do-able, even with me being a teacher, selling lia sophia, teaching scrapbook classes, etc.! Needless to say, I did a TON in June!

We were engaged in late Feb and didn't want to make any decisions right away. Probably bc we knew we had totally different visions for the wedding which we ended up fighting over quite a bit. So, in the end, we didn't really start planning until June and were married in Nov. I felt like I had more than enough time for everything. In fact, once I signed the contract, I probably didn't even do much more for the next couple months aside from send out a save the date. Totally doable.

I gave myself 8 months, put together a intensely detailed to do list, and I'm spending a ton of time looking for houses and other things - you can do it. My one suggestion is to not get to focused on the little stuff - and do things that will make it easy - DIY projects that take a day or two rather than a week... If it's too intricate or complicated, go a different route.

And other than that, the hotel can take care of just about everything else.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
