Ebay dress disaster!!!!!!!!!! (pic heavy)

Recommended Posts

I just got to say i think that dress looks gorgeous in the photos you posted. I really think once you put on all the extras you may love it.

And I don't think you will have any problems trying to resell it if you do chose so.

2. The Jim Hjelm dress that it was based on is one of my dream dresses. I stare at the dress all the time and drool. I wish I would have known you were trying to purchase a knock-off from China. The problem with knock-offs is that lace does not look that great IMHO. Not to say that your dress isn't pretty but unfortunately it won't look the same quality at the original.

3. The original cost that much for a reason, that type of lace is very expensive. However, I don't think your dress is that bad and I think we can fix it.

4. First things first you should go buy a different colored sash to get the color and quality you want. If you get a nicer quality sash it will make it look more elegant.

5. When you go get it taken it maybe see if they can do a sweetheart neckline. Do you like that kind of neckline? This may add a little something more to the dress.

6. Are you wearing shoes in the pic? Put on your highest heels, put your hair up, put jewelery and do your make-up and see how you feel in the dress. You might realize its not so bad.

7. If you really hate the dress than just use it for TTD or try to re-sell it on ebay.

8. Ultimately, I think you look beautiful but in the end its what you think that really matters.
I totally agree with everything you said!!! My mom is coming out in may so I will get all fixed up with jewelry, hair, and makeup and then I have a second opinion, if we still don't like it we will go dress shopping again.
I am not wearing shoes in the pic either. it only cost $200 so i will just sell it or use it for my ttd. The sash is a very easy fix so I can buy a new one in the color I want and I will have to get alterations, because I am losing so much weight from the BDW biggest loser contest cheer2.gif as Nrvsbride said!!!

I totally agreee with Nrvsbride and CONGRATS on your weight loss!! that is really impressive. I think the most important thing about clothes is fit - if something fits and is made fo you it makes all the difference in the world! More difference than the details of the garment. I think once that dress fits you it could change everything. Good luck!!!

Sorry to hear it didn't turn out as well as you had hoped... The same happened to me...bought a dress on ebay and when it came I was so disappointed b/c it didn't look nearly as nice as the pics...and the fit was horrible...WAy too big around the top, and WAY too tight around the bottom (made my butt look about 3 feet long) and WAy too short...i didnt spend too much so wasn't the biggest of deals but I totally feel for you....

Actually, I think Lizz might have that dress from DB. I know the material might be different and not as nice in person, but it really is pretty.
It is very similar to my dress (thanks for noticing Carly!), except mine is the knock-off version from DB, so it's definitely not the same quality as a Jim Hjelm. But I think it would be worth you trying it on at DB, it's so similar (no sash, though I'm sure you could add one).

Im sorry you dont like it- I think you looked really great in the pics, after altering it would look even better. But, since you dont like it, I would seek other options. You want to feel great that day and not be worrying about the lace or the bow. Best of luck!

So sorry you don't like your dress, it does look very nice on you though, fits lovely apart from the top.

What company on ebay did you order it from, I've ordered mine from ebay, just waiting for it to come.

You can work magic with the dress to get the look you want. You already have the pattern which is the hard part.

1. locate a bridal salon , that do CUSTOM -MADE alterations.
2. show them a pic of the JH DRESS, they could re-make the dress
3. I would change the lace of the dress to what you like, BUT keep the under-lay of the dress as the pattern of the dress, that will help whoever does the alterations.
4.Search for a sash , a color you like
Then you should be good to go

I think that will help you. Good Luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
