Another question, did the hotel coordinator provide you with a BEO (banquet event order) before yesterday? this is a document which lists all your menu and bar choices, as well as event times, locations, dates and number of confirmed guests per event.

I say fight them on this and keep in mind that you will get farther by being polite but firm.

I hope this gets resolved.
Yes, I have all of this in writing ststing exactly what we ordered and that the price was $77pp for the food.

But she pointed out that on the bottom, it states that "food/beverages are subject to change w/o notice"

Did you book your location through a TA? If so you should definitely get them involved.

Other than that I like Carly's idea of trying to negotiate with the hotel and possibly asking to speak to her boss or the GM to try and get it taken care of. Good luck!

This is alot more than a slight increase, it's almost 50% more!!
Do you have any of that in writing - the the prices never go up much? Use that as a negotiating tool. Tell her that you'll accept a 10% increase, but no more (or whatever %). See if she'll work with you.

Also, it may be that there is one dish that's driving the change - who knows, the price of coconut may have gone thru the roof and it's the coconut shrimp that's messing everything up. So talk with her and see what's driving the price change. Maybe you swap out the coconut shrimp for the shrimp scampi and all is back within range.

But ask her to work with you, either on menu or on overall pricing. I'm sure she'll do what she can.

In the meantime, see if you can find a different place to have as a backup plan.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Well, I just wanted to let you all know that I just got off the phone with the WC and she told me flat out that "there is no way they will lower the price". The reason is because the restaurant is in the process of being sold and it is no longer apart of the hotel, so we are basically screwed. And to make things even better, their new menu is absolutly pathetic!! and we can't even add additional entrees to the buffet like we thought we could, becasuse the new chef "thinks that it is a waste of food".

So, I am on the hunt for a new hotel. Wish me luck and I'll let you guys know if I can get anything this close.

Thanks again for all your help

I didn't book the wedding through a travel agent, but I am about to call another hotel. I emailed them this morning and they haven't gotten back to me (they probably have a wedding going on today since its Fri) buthopefully if they get my email and then a vmail - they will see I am desperate.

Thanks for your offer but I don't think there is anything anyone can do at this point. I don't even know what to do myself. I just tried calling another hotel down there, but my cell dosen't allow international calls, so I will have to wait until I get home tonight.

Oh, and nope they don't allow outside food or vendors.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
