Hives when Im nervous!

Ok I know this may sound a little crazy but Ive got issues.... haha imagine that!

Whenever I feel any type of emotion (or even when Im in the sun).... really happy, crying, excited, nervous, angry (Im thinking whenever by BP goes up) I get these red blotches all over. It started with it only on my chest, not I get it down my arms, neck, boobs, and even face.

 

How embarrassing!!!

 

Usually I dont mind but Im freaking out for the wedding day because Im sure I will be feeling every emotion under the sun and I dont wanna look like a red blob.

Has anyone else had this problem or am I the only wierdo out here that has it... anyone use anyone know of the magical cure )

 

Im sure I will just have to use makeup but thats what I wanna do as a last resort to cover it up.

 

Any suggestions to help my pathetic self would be wonderful!

Ok in all seriousness though - maybe try taking half a Benadryl before the wedding? (although try it out in advance just to make sure it works!)

Oh no keep laughing.... everyone knows when I get pissed at a patient at work because I break out.... There always like " uhhhh Sarah who are you mad at now" LOL I can never hid my emotions. I went to the dermatologist and had them (I was standing outside on the phone right before the appt in the summer in AZ) so needless to say I had them on my chest.... You know its bad what the dermatologist, a freakin skin specialist says "WOW Ive never seen that before I wish I had my camera" Great! So then she gave me some ointment and said that it wasnt approved by the FDA because it could cause cancer.... WTF!

SO I never used it or went back to here LOL

I totally get the same thing!!! I'm a teacher and whenever I have meetings with parents of my students I wear turtle neck sweaters because I know I'll just be a big red blotchy mess! It never used to be this bad but it seems to be getting worse. I was reading a little blurb in a magazine about skin getting red because of nerves and it suggested not taking a hot shower (as it brings blood cells closer to the surface), and even using a cold compress before the event.

 

I'm going to try and test this out. Otherwise I'm thinking about asking my doctor for some sort of anti-anxiety med to try out before the wedding. Maybe if I can just be super mellow my skin won't freak out.

 

p.s. In addition to the red blotches I also sometimes get tiny puffy patches that are itchy on my eyelids. These only happen when I'm EXTREMELY stressed. You?

HA! Wow that is pretty bad when a Dr. gives you something that THEY KNOW will harm you. Hey no biggie, trade some skin condition for a handful of cancer.
I am sorry I am not of much help but I like the idea of taking some sort of antihistamine.

Does champagne relax you?? ok so maybe not the answer but some anti anxiety meds may be the answer. There must be a nurse or a doctor on this forum??

I'm the EXACT same way. In fact I was married before (when I was 19) and in almost all my pictures their were red blotches all over my chest and neck. I was scared to death that I would have a repeat for our wedding. Well to my surprise I was fine. My dh and I are not traditional people, we stayed our wedding night in the same room, in the morning we ordered in for breakfast, then went for a couples massage followed by a walk on the beach, it was very relaxing and it did the trick. We met up before the ceremony to take pictures and then walked down to the alter together. I was totally relaxed (plus having the sound of the waves crashing in the background helped too)

 

Do whatever you think will relax you the morning of your wedding. Hopefully it will help.

sarah, i get hives when i am really really upset or stressed, and usually a benadryl does the trick. but my doc said taking half a xanax on the wedding day might not be a bad idea...

My daughters and best friend are exactly the same way. Stay away from alcohol because it usually makes it worse, take some benadryl, and have a cold compress on hand before you walk down the isle.
