Grand riviera princess weddings????????????

Recommended Posts

EmmaB asked for some tips and here is my reply to her.

Emma-

Hello and congrats on booking your wedding. I really thought that the RM Princess was beautiful and it is a great deal to stay there. I'm sure your wedding will be wonderful. Here are a few tips hopefully they will help.

1. Depending on if you want to have your guests close together or not (both options available) try to arrange their rooms either by the beach (platinum area) or middle of the resort. That way they can walk either to the beach or the restaurants fairly quickly. Also if you call and or wait (we waited up to 15min) a shuttle does run along the outside of the property. You can get it if you walk past the gift shop to the outside road way. (Depending on when your wedding is this may change due to the current additions being made to the resort) The shuttle does run sporadically but can give you a ride to the beach or to the restaurants (pick up at the platinum lounge at the beach end).

2. The Mexican and Italian restaurants were excellent and the waiters were great! The seafood restaurant was very poor food (the only night I got sick -and the men had to order room service right after dinner), the sushi and toppanaki (sp?) places were good food but long long wait for the food (hours). Our friends went to the steak house/grill and they said the food was good there as well. The buffet offers a good variety and was always consistent especially for breakfast. (we ate down by the beach/platinum area for breakfast as the crowds were smaller). My FI said the lunch buffet was also good (I never needed to eat lunch, still full and wanting the sun time)

3. The pool was fun, there was the party pool with the staff doing dance lessons, volleyball, and handball etc.. that was always full of people and excitement. We chose the pool up near the beach next to the restaurants, it was less crowded and they had a great swim up bar we enjoyed. Depending on what you want it is available.

4. If you can get a room on the second or third floor it is worth it, as both of my friends who had first floor rooms near the beach had issues with mosquito's. We stayed in the middle area on the second floor and didn't even see a mosquito in our room. The others got lots of bites at night.

5. Make sure to order your drinks just the way you want them. We learned fast to order the top shelf alcohol's as the well liquor gave everyone heartburn the first day. At times you have to watch the bartender make it to make sure he uses the alcohol you choose, especially in the bar in the courtyard up front by the restaurants. Also, the swim up bars were running out of ice and mango puree mid-day. So if you like mango get the Mango margarita with Hornitos early on (the best!) Also the drinks in the platinum lounge were better made then the others we got.

We really enjoyed our day at Coba and heard Tulum was great as well for the ruins. We also liked the ecopark at Xcaret (they had great lunch food in the Mexican restaurant).

If you have any other specific questions or I can be help let me know. Good luck.

I'm having a hell of time getting anything out of my coordinator though. voodoo.gifI'm trying to arrange a private welcome reception for my guests (thinking about 50) and a private last night send off dinner too.

Haven't gotten any info whatsoever about flowers, music or the in house photographer there either - does anyone have any infohuh.gif

Hi Emma B...I was wondering what type of additional costs you incurred for having more than 20 ppl at your wedding? I noticed on the Grand Riviera's site that they have a package for up to a max of 20 ppl, but we are thinking we're probably going to have close to 40.

Also, I'm from Toronto too...which travel agency are u going thru? Are you booking through Air Transat?

Please help...we are still trying to decide on a location.

Thx!!!

Private event meals cost between $35 and $85 per person, depending on the menu choice. I can post the menus here if people are interested? Open National Bar is included in the first hour. You can upgrade to International for another $5 per person. Additional hours cost $15 per person for National and $20 per person for International per hour.) Please heed my review about only having wine served despite having International Open Bar during my private event in a conference room.

Here are the service prices I received, but didn't use, because I was only having a private event.

Hey dinzers,

Yup, we're going through air transat. I actually booked through a travel agent in oakville since i had used her before, and she ended up gettin the best rate by far - $1500 a person taxes in and this includes an upgrade to the regency platinum club for all guests. Her name is Sharron Harrington from Upper Oakville Travel. other travel agents quoted me $1800 and up (itravel said $2000!).

the GRP is charging me $14 per person for each guest over 10, and that includes the champagne toast, wedding cake and chair at the ceremony. the beach party is $60 pp, minimum of 40 people, and includes private dinner, booze, DJ, decor and dedicated wait staff. debating renting a dancefloor on the beach for $600 for the older peeps.

The down side to this place is with over 40 guests your only option for the reception is the beach party or a conference room. a la cartes can't accomodate more than 40. but i think a beach reception will be super fun! and the WC is organizing a private welcome reception margarita party for us by the pool for $16 pp that includes "canapes".

hope this helps! good luck deciding! let me know if you have any others Qs. Is great to find another Toronto DW bride.

Ok, here are the English menus. They are not in order of price, for some reason. Also, the creative spelling is not mine - it is direct from the resort. They are somewhat inflexible with their menu changes - although they came up with a new entree choice for me, it was definitely on their terms. Again, I'd say save your $ and take your guests to Playa del Carmen for a meal instead, or something - or if you do plan to have 2 events, try to get off property for one. You're bound to have better service that way, and better value in the long run.

When I was there, hanging out in the courtyard one evening, I saw 2 brides in their wedding dresses. I'm not sure if they had a double wedding, or if they both happened to have weddings earlier and both weren't having a private reception? And this was on a weeknight.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
