Monica just emailed me with more info on the dessert reception, here is what she said

"Ho I see what you mean! we offer a private open bar for 2 hours at $8.00 US per person, this cost includes only the private location, open bar for 2 hours and high cocktail tables. We also have a dessert buffet, the cost of the les expensive one is $16.00 US per person (40 people minimum) and also includes 2 hours of open bar, private location, high cocktail tables and service. I am curios on how did you find out on this service as it is not available on our kit.. =)"

I am assuming everyone already knew about this? Has the event kit changed for 2008 or did everyone just request this? The smiley face she put at the end of her email makes me nervous!

Also, Shannon I have a question about the private dinner on the beach for you and your guests, where did you find pricing info for this? I think it is nice gesture and am considering it as well.

Thank you,
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer -The chocolate fountain party is $14/person -it's a choc fountain with fresh fruit and breads. I'm adding on the open bar for 2 hours for $8/person- so it will be $22 person total... - I'm doing this at Tucanes. I'm also buying a cake and having the cake cutting at this reception...

You can do a private dinner with a min of 3 "entrees"-- we picked a salad, the angus steak with lobster sauce entree, and the apple pie for dessert- I believe it ended up being $47/person total. I think you could have chosen soup as a entree, or an appetizer as an entree, etc- those are all on the event kit 2008 sheet...

This pricing includes tables/chairs setup, as well as waiters, drinks, etc (like you would at one of the restaurants). I told Valeria we wanted to have it on the beach, so she gave us the white gazebo location... Since the chairs are included in the pricing- it was only $6/chair to have the white linens and colored bows. (we are paying $13/chair for the choc fountain party bc the chairs aren't included- so we have to pay for the actual chair rental AND decoration). We are adding tiki torches and beach candles....

Hope this helps!

Do you know if this is can be setup in the swing bar? Also, are you purchasing this in addition to a wedding cake?
Jennifer, I see that I didn't tell you how much the dessert reception was. It costs $20, and that includes all the desserts listed and the 2 hours of bar service. We are only having 19 people at ours; nothing was said about a 40-person minimum. My daughter has never wanted a wedding cake, so we are not doing that.

Jennifer, I could not find anything written about the dessert reception. I had read on the forum that "brigopens" had one at their wedding, so I asked Valeria specifically about it. Anyway, I'm curious as to what Monica was talking about (the less expensive one is $16). I didn't know there were any options. If you find out anything, please let us know!

I am posting the link to the attachment Monica sent me regarding the $16.00 dessert reception.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
