Less than 2 months and I think I'm starting to freak out!

Recommended Posts

I'm not freaked out about the marriage it's the wedding and all these activities leading up to it!!!

My first shower is this saturday and then I have another 2 weeks later and my bachelorette party 2 weeks after that. To be honest...I don't want any of them! I don't like to have everything centered around me and be "showered" w/ gifts, etc...

So I agree to have all this to make everyone else happy. I registered at 3 different places for pretty inexpensive things because I am a simple person and don't need fancy things and also because most of my guests are the same and I don't want them to spend alot.

So FMIL (who is already giving us $5k so she says) calls us yesterday (me first to wish me happy b-day and then my FI) to have him drill me on what I might really want as a gift at the shower because she says the things on the registry are just so blah and inexpensive! WHAT! Well then you just described me and hey by the way you should know me after years!

I hate to sound mean because I really do appreciate the gesture...but it was hard enough for me to find things to register for and now she is saying what I picked is not good enough and I have to all of a sudden pick something better?? WTF? If I knew something better I would have put it on there to begin with. So my poor FI is in the middle of this and he hates it. So he just called me this morning to ask if we decided on something to tell his mom and I ripped his face off and started crying!!

What is going on and why am I so emotional?

You'll be fine Michelle! I've been snappy with FI for months now! LOL! I think it's because so much work and emotional time has been invested in planning the wedding and it's about to come to fruition. I'm wondering what I'll do with myself once the wedding is over! (BDW)

It's hard because logical me knows everything will be ok, the wedding & registry needs to be about what we want, etc. But the emotional me kinda freaks out over nothing!

I'm at 79 days so it's finally starting to feel real. On the one hand I feel pretty we-prepared but I have this fear that I'm forgetting something major!

Try and relax and enjoy your shower for what it is. Remember it's the thought that counts. As far as your FMIL...she can buy everything on your registry or pick something out that is her taste/price range. It's a gift, you shouldn't be expected to do all the work to acquire it!

Michelle, your normal...every bride in their own way freaks out! My mom has alot of anxiety meds from my sisters wedding (400 guests) and now mine, all within in a year...I can send you some..LOL! Seriously though, this is the crazy part..everything is leading up so quickly and drawing near, but you need to trust yourself and all of your awesome planning skills. Being the center of attention scares me too, so i understand but im sure this feeling will wear off once you have your first shower, then the second, then eventually your walking down the aisle!!!yeah Okay, I tend to ramble hopefully this helps but please know your not the only one with these worries, if we didnt worry...that would be wierd..right!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
