New Mexican Foreign Worker's Policy??? what?

Recommended Posts

The dirty truth is people here use the specter of Immigration and their authority to intimidate foreigners. I've seen it since day 1, it is what it is. I just do everything by the letter of the law and have the right documents. Documents seem to go a long way here, if you have the documents people who want to intimidate you will usually give up before they even try.

I agree, it really seems like intimitation from EDR to collect extra money.

the thing is Im not attempting to do any of this..... I am doing work for an american or canadian citizen, not for any persons with mexican citizenship!

so this FMTTV doesn't even apply. read the last section services to customers or to explore new investment opportunities in Mexico. "in mexico" is the key. and since no money is being exchanged for services in the country, there is no issue. Methinks these hotels are trying to make an extra buck on you girls..

fwiw.. if you photog stays with you at the hotel, stays low key, travels light... and you have told them that a friend is taking your pictures, you are good to go. they can't prove that im a professional. I have no business cards with me and only have the minimum amount of gear, heck I will even look a guest.

girls... this has been around for years and years. just choose your resort and your vendors carefully, and live happily ever after :)
very well said Nic, I got the same impression, no money is actually changing hands in Mexico and the employer is not a mexican citizen either...great clarification.

okay ladies, I am going to close this thread, mainly because I think we are all getting no where with this. Basically from what I gather from reading all the photogs posts here and other places...your photog should not bring more than 2 cameras (as Leigh said if they plan to someone else needs to carry some of them).

You are not paying your photog in mexico and since you do not live in mexico as long as you follow the guidelines of your particular resort you should be fine. Photographers know their risk to traveling and working outside of the country and you should speak to your own photog.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
