Postage Issue

Okay I thought I was being pro-active and I got all my invites done for my wedding in Mexico and for my AHR done about a month ago. My problem is that my AHR isnt till July and I just realized that stamp prices are going up in May...I already sealed the RSVP envelope in the outter envelope with the .41 stamp....is it going to look really bad if my guests for the AHR have to add postage to mail them back to me now? I really dont want to have to redo 70 invite envelopes!

When in July is your AHR? You are supposed to mail invites 6-8 weeks ahead of time so you should be ok. My AHR is July 26, so I am mailing my invites no later than May 10. Postage increases on the 12th.

 

**Part of the reason for us having a DW is because so much family is from out of town. Mailing them early will give everyine a chance to make travel arrangements.

She is worried about the RSVP card... That really sucks! I don't know what to tell you. I know I wouldn't even think to look at the postage. And if they don't they won't get sent. AHHHH Maybe send them another envelope with the stamps that will make it right with a little funny note about the stamp prices. That might be easier than redoing them all.

yeah it is the RSVP card I am worried about. I just dont want to have to worry about sending another envelope just for a .02 stamp. I guess I will just mail them early and hope people dont get annoyed them have to add them to the envelope? smile105.gif

Can you take one and try to steam open the envelope? I've got no idea what's really involved, but maybe that would be an option.

 

Otherwise, honestly, I'd re-do them. People won't look and will put the RSVP in the mail, and they'll never make it to you. Plus, you know they won't put a return address on them, so they'll just end up in USPS pergatory.

You're right. My brain isn't working today. Ok, so you send them out May 1st and pretend you didn't know postage was going up! Honestly, that's what I would think if I got your invite. Technically you didn't know when you made your invites or you would have the correct postage. Can guests also RSVP through your website or only with the card?

Your only other alternative is to redo the outer-envelopes. (if that's what you do you should steam them open so you don't have to re-write & re-stamp them.) You could either inclue an "oops" card with a stamp or go ahead and steam open the inner envelopes. I hate that that is such a time consuming option!

Kathi, why don't you just double-stick tape a 1c stamp to a cute little cardstock cutout with a note about the price going up. enclose it inside the outer envelope but double-stick taped to the flap of the inner envelope? does that make sense?

that way when they open the outer envelope, it won't flutter away and get lost, but when they see it they will know to look for the reply envelope and stick it on right away.

 

look on the bright side, if you do it this way, it might get people to actually fill out the card and return it to you right away!

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners.
