We rented out the Tropical but they shut you down at about 10:30-11 pm so we headed to the disco for some after partying and had an AWESOME time, but I'm not sure I would want my entire wedding reception there.....My hubby who is a major starwars fan was even amazed at the cheesiness.

The tropical restaurant is quite nice, if you want to see pics go to adamandalla.com and there are a TON under the guest's photo section.
Lynnmichelle, I must be confused, but I thought the Aqua bar was in front of the Tropical Restaurant and it was outdoors. We had our coctail hour at what I thought was the Aqua bar and it was great.
hello there Allaballa, I was thinking about changing my site from Dreams Tulum to IB Del Mar. The pix of the resort are beautiful. Did you have your wedding on the beach or chapel? Any suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated. not many IB brides on this forum.

Thanks Lynn. I originally wanted it at Dream Tulum but the chapel was too small.
Do you know how many people fit in the chapel at IB del mar? If you have pix of IB that would be great

I just got back from a site inspection at the Iberostar Lindo/Mayan (as well as the Moon Palace and Paradisus). The Iberostar is spectacular! I do have to say though that is was one of my least favorites when it came down to the reception (after ceremony) options. I loved the resort (and still have not taken it off my list), but I really wanted a private dinner/buffet reception and this is something the resort does not offer. Yes, they can set aside an area in one of the restaurants, but it is not that intimate. The chapel and gazebos are very nice. This resort had the best beach of every resort I visited. It had a really big area for a beach ceremony. They offer the Vitrinas room, but it is away from the beach or the pool... so it just felt like you could have been anywhere (not necessarily at a destination/beach wedding)

Does the private function at the Tropical have a minimum guest requirement? I don't remember the WC mentioning that option to me when I was down there last weekend. It might be because I didn't have enough guests -- only about 40. (BTW - She was horrible!! No enthusiasm at all!! Didn't seem to know anything.)

These are pics from my site inspection:

They said the minimum is 50, but if it's that close and you're willing to pay, I'm sure they would work with you. Did you meet with Reyna? I have corresponded with her via email and she has been very helpful so far. Thanks for sharing the pics!!! Duh! I just realized you went to the Lindo/Maya. I was talking about the del Mar location.

  • 4 weeks later...

the disco is very "star wars themed" and sort of cheesy - I would recommend the pool bar or the private restaurant....the disco is also very, very dark. Hope this helps (i was there on vacation a few weeks back -got engaged--and now getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar in December 08

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
