Ice Breaker Games for AHR?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if all you wonderful creative ladies might be able to help me out with some ideas for ice-breaker games at our AHR?

I am thinking of playing some games to get our guests more into the party mood and mingle a bit more with eachother.

We're having a beach/tropical/Jamaica theme so it would be really great if I could think of a game to incorporate the theme, I am thinking something involving Bob Marley songs, or maybe making someone wear a rastafarian hat.... any ideas?

This isn't Bob Marley or hats BUT I use to play this game as an ice breaker in high school. You break people up into groups. You give them a word like Love or Ocean or whatever and they have to come up with a song that has that word in it and sing at least so many lines. You keep going around until one group can't come up with a song. It is fun because it is a bonding thing getting people to work together and better yet sing together lol

Here is an idea if anyone in the future is looking for one. We are going to greet every guest as they arrive with a lei. Once everyone has arrived, we will announce the rules of a little game we'll play. If anyone hears someone say the word "no", (And it can have the meaning of no or "know"), they get that person's lei. So you will get a lot of people trying to trick others into saying the word "no"! The person with the most lei's at the end of the night will win a prize - in our case we'll be giving away a bottle of Appleton Rum!

I remembered this game from a Christmas Party I went to a few years ago and we had used beads then. It was a lot of fun and really got people mingling! cheesy.gif

In all honesty I am not a big fan of games, I think a few drinks in everyone will relax and havee fun without the games. I am the wrong person to ask however, because I really hate being asked to play games, it makes me feel like I am at a kids party, jmho, I also find it awkward getting them organized. Now ask me about drinking games, and I will have a whole other opinion, hehehe:)

I concur with Kelly. I hate to say it but I'm one of those people who roll their eyes and try to hide under the table when there is game playing. I find music and alcohol are wonderful social stimulators. lol. Are you having a DJ? they are usually well versed in getting the party started. BTW this is all my humble opinion. I may just be socially retarded. lol.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
