Yay for another Sandals bride! We picked SGOR because of it's size and diversity. Your guests also have the option of going to Sandals Dunns River. We have a very diverse group of ages traveling to our wedding and I thouht SGOR had more to offer than Montego Bay.

Good luck!!

Hello everyone, I posted on here about two weeks because I was going to Sandals Grande Ocho Rios and I was having doubts after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. I would just like to say don't believe everything you read. We were there from 2/8- 2/15 and enjoyed every moment of it, did not want to leave. The resort was very beautiful. It has two sides, the manor and riveria side. There is a jittney and bus service that takes you around the resort. We had a very good time, the only bad was that it rained for two days straight, that's nothing we have control over though.

We got married on Thursday Feb 12, 2009 and it was wonderful. We were wedding stalkers the previous days before...lol...We got to see a wedding at the Roman Gazebo. It was nice but too close to the manor pool, therefore there were alot of onlookers. We also saw a wedding on the Arizona pier, that was also very nice, but many onlookers becuase it was close to the beach. We got married at the Reef Gazebo becuase of it's privacy and beauty. It is located on a cliff that overlooks the ocean. The day was absolutely beautiful, sunny but not too hot. We brought our own flowers and our coordinator Kerry-Ann put them up for us, she didn't have a problem with doing so. We also brought our own supplies and did a sand ceremony. The sand ceremony is free if you bring your own supplies, if not the charge is $100.00. I got my hair done at the Spa and Geneve did a very good job, I told her what I wanted and she did just that. The photographer also did a good job with the pictures. We did an a la carte package and had a a very hard time narrowing down the pictures because they all looked good. The photographers do take nice pictures at the resort but they charge too much money for them.

We didn't do any excursions but we did take a say trip to Sandals Dunn's River. It was a nice resort but I like The Grande better, staff and guests were friendlier, everyone would always volunteer to take pictures of us.

I enjoy my trip and I have no regrets. For all future brides who are going to Sandals Grande Ocho Rios just go with an open mind and you will have a wonderful WeddingMoon. I had a wonderful time, I did not want to leave and hope everyone else has a remarkable experience like me.

It's been great finding this board I've had a lot of my questions answered already but I have a couple more.

My daughter is getting married at SGOR on June 9, 2009. She has only reserved the basic $200 wedding for now because we understand that almost all of the other items can be added directly at the resort.

Could someone verify that we will be allowed to take our own pictures and video?

My daughter would like to get married on the beach. If we do not purchase additional decorations will we not have anything? Not even a arch?

Let's set up a telephone consultation- both properties are quite a bit different!

I am getting married at Beaches Turks & Caicos as far as I know -

you can take your own pictures and videos but they do not allow outside vendors unless you have booked a room for them.

To have an arch on the beach you do have to purchase it. There are different ones for different prices.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
