I'm from SK. We booked everything through our travel agent. at first I was getting quite the run-around. My travel agent sent out in the mail all our travel info, etc. as well as Darma's phone number.. so I called her.. and then just emailed her (got her email from someone else on this forum i think) which was waaaay faster.. and she emailed me back and told me i have to call 1-800-Sandals and BOOK the WEDDING DATE first... ( i thought that was what she was for..?) Anyways, so I called the number and they told me to have my TA call in... so by this time I was pizzed off.. so I sent a nice, but firm email to my TA.. letting her know what's going on... that i'm already getting a run-around and shouldnt be.. cuz we spent a crapload of money for this trip.

Next day my TA emailed me and let me know that we are booked for Nov. 18th (2 days after we arrive) and I got the 4pm spot.. which is what I wanted.

Whew!!

It is just the two of us going down.. eloping!! So we don't need any upgrades. We are getting the butler service, so that is plenty! I looked at their fancy floral packages, dinners etc. Which look lovely but totally expensive. $180 for a dozen roses?? wow. I'm bringing my own flowers down. How about you??

What are you sending for documentation? I have to get both or our birth certificates ($25.00 each) or its a cert. copy or something .. then get it notarized I guess. Does this sound right??

I just got back on Friday and it was wonderful! Like yours, mine was small. There was us and another couple. I felt it pointless to spend a ton of extra money on flowers and such and I was glad I opted not to. I was very happy with my "free" boquet. It was very pretty and as soon as I can figure out how I will download a picture of it. I also have pic of some of the wedding sites at SGOR if anyone is interested.

Asteff and Irebride

It was great to meet you both in person. Let me know when you both retrun so we can swap stories and pics! I hope you both had as much fun as we did!

BTW Asteff I think you jinxed us with your delayed flights! We got stuck in Ft Lauderdale over night. IT was a night mare. That is the only think I can complain about. Well that and the tipping. Not so much the tipping but people demanding to be tipped.

FYI to all those who have an upcoming trip. Take cash. Smaller bills ($5's and $10) are nice. Also the only way to call out is by buying a phone card there or credit card. I gave the number to my kids after we arrived and they just called us. I am not sure what our phone bill is gonna be..lol

Here are a couple of the wedding locations

Reef Terace

This is where we got married and I loved it. There is a nice Ocean View in the backgound. It is located right beside the Rivera building. It is more private than the rest.

I am not sure the name of the others but this one is the Gazebo in the left hand side of the pic (red roof).

Here is the last one I have a pic of:

I also saw a couple of weddings right on the beach. They were very pretty but people were laying out and playing right in the water beside the wedding. It was kinda awkward being there when a wedding was going on. I felt like an uninvited guest..lol

Hey hun,

I'm so happy you got your stuff sorted out, dont take shit from any of those TA's make sure you get what you want and in a timely fashion !!!! If there not doing what you want Dump them... Thats what I did....

I also looked at there Preston Bailey pakages and i found them quite $$$$, so we decied to take our flowers down... We found a real cheap florist and she's making my boquet out of floramatique flowers... It only costed me like $90.... It works out cheap for us becuase my BMs are not carring flowers but silk fans instead....

I had to cancel my TA, she was real dummy... all she cared about was her cut of the pie... i wanted to fryingpan.gif her a few times... So we just booked everything thru sandals direclty, its eaiser that way and theres no miss communcation.. We sent or documentation in about 1 mth ago. We got a invoice saying that our notarized birth certificates were fine and we didint need to send them anything else...

I called Sandals Negril yesterday and they told me that the sunset twilight package has been discontinted... I thank god we booked it back in June 2007.

I'm still kinda pissed because Sandals does not offer a welcome rep or anything, it kinda sucks because i would have loved to have a dinner the night we get there with all our guest....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
