Sandals Brides Updates!

Today Darma told me that the sand ceremony is an extra $100 dollars. It sounds like everyone else was told that it is not an extra charge. I wonder if the price is for the supplies, like the vases and sand; she didn't specify. Any opinions on this?

To help answer your questions:

Yes, you can take your own cake topper and toasting glasses. I don't have a cake topper, but I do have a cake server set and toasting glasses that I'm taking with us. I also made programs that I am taking along as well.

The sand ceremony isn't part of the regular ceremony, but it can be added if you request it. You will just have to provide your own supplies. There's no cost to add the sand ceremony, per Darma. We're adding this to our ceremony, along with the Blessing of the Hands reading.

We're having a 1 hour private cocktail reception with hot and cold hor d'ouvres. How many guests do you have? We only have 10 guests, including ourselves, so the $25 price tag per person isn't bad especially considering you get a private location and bar only for your guests for that amount of time. We're not having an AHR, so our reception at Sandals is our only post-wedding celebration. However, we didn't see the point in paying more $$$ for more time and a full dinner. With our wedding being at 1 pm, we figure that everyone will be heading back to their respective resorts around dinner time.

I hope that helps!

I think the $100 price tag is for supplies. I just looked at the email Darma sent me regarding the sand ceremony and it says that there's no cost as long as we bring our own supplies. I think I read it initially to read that there's no cost, period! She also recently sent us an invoice, and there wasn't a charge for the sand ceremony. Definitely provide your own supplies if you can. It will cost waaaay less than $100!

Look forward to hearing more from all of you!!

My brother and his wife booked the Juilet suite last year for thier honeymoon and he said they were only in it one time and that was it. They said that when the go back they will book a lower catergory just cause they were never in their room and didn't use the pool. We took that into account when booking and booked a room in the Rivera building with an ocean front view. I am really excited to see our room! My FI has never seen the ocean. The cool thing is exactly 2 weeks from this very minute I should be just getting to my room! :-)

The Riviera rooms are in my opinion the nicest on the property! They've all been refurbished and are closest to the majority of resrtaurants, nightly shows and the beach

The Romeo & Juliet suites are neat because they have the private pool and hot tub! They are set up a little different as you have the bedroom on one side- the pool area (it is a plunge pool so not that big) and then a sitting area with a kitchen on the other side. But I like that you have complete privacy for the plunge pool and hot tub! These rooms are scheduled for rennovations so once they are done they'll be stunning!

For room categories I think it really depends on whether you want it to be just the two of you and very private go for the Romeo & Juliet Suite or if your both sociable and prefer to meet others I'd say save some money and book the Riviera rooms!

I cannot belive how quickly time is going. I thought it would drag this last month but I only have one more full week in Ohio. I am praying the trip doesn't feel like is it going as fast as the last few weeks have gone. I really feel like everything is coming together finally. It felt like it never would and i was really stressing. I know I was driving my FI nutts! The last thing We have to do is book the hotel by the airport. We are 2 hours from it and our flight leaves really early. I think I am going to do that this morning. I am just really excited and wanted to share that with everyone!!! whooohooooo smile29.gif

I'm excited that you're excited!!! smile29.gif

I'm totally hearing you about the time flying by. We have less than 2 weeks until we're in Jamaica, and work is crazy, so I have my hands full 8-10 hours of the day and I have to sleep at some point! I'm really stressing myself out. Last week I tried to heat up my lunch at work in the photocopier! Oh my... I just need to take a deep breath and relax. Everything is taken care of.

We're about 2 hours away from the airport as well, so we just booked our hotel. To me, it's definitely worth the piece of mind knowing that we're just a couple of miles from the airport! FI just had a flat tire this weekend, and that could have happened on the way to the airport if we hadn't thought ahead!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
