Sandals Brides Updates!

Amanda,

That was a huge help! Thanks so much!

The $25 reception is what we're looking at. We have 12-16 people (including us) going, so it's still fairly reasonable...we figured since we had so many people coming for our wedding that we at least owed it to them to have an hour long reception!!!

Do you happen to know what the regular ceremony includes? I'm not sure if we're going to do the sand ceremony yet, just trying to decide what we can do and what we want to do. I'm thinking of making a cake topper to match my flowers so it won't be anything fancy, it will just personalize it a little bit!

Thanks so much for answering my questions for me!!!

Bridget

Bridget,

It's my understanding that the regular ceremony is just vows and rings, which is nice, but I figured that since we have family there with us that we would add a couple more things just to add maybe 10 min to the ceremony. Our legal ceremony in PA was just us and was very simple - vows and rings. I've been viewing DW videos on YouTube to get an idea of what the ceremonies look like. At Sandals, your ceremony can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. Darma has been very accomodating for us in regard to our ceremony additions. She actually hadn't heard of the Blessing of the Hands, but spoke with the on-site wedding consultant and got approval. My best piece of advice is to ask your WC about anything you want to include.

Instead of the Sand Ceremony you could do the Unity Candle, but if it's breezy it might be hard to keep it lit, and you'd have the travel with a candle that could melt. Not that traveling with glass containers and sand is any easier!

I like the idea of making your own cake topper. I wish I had more DIY motivation and time!

I'm excited to hear more about what you decide to do with your wedding there. Are you going to go for a Preston Bailey Collection?

I love the pics of the cakes - simple but beautiful!

I decided to upgrade my bouquet through the resort. It seemed pricey to me, but I didn't like the bouquet that comes with the Floral Elegance Preston Bailey Collection that we're going with. If you have the Floral Upgrade Catalog, it's number 100.

I just realized that after today there's only 2 full weekends left until we leave, and I'll be doing a bachelorette party weekend for one of them out of town!

I hear you about the time crunch. We got engaged in October 2007 and decided to get married this May. Seven months felt like plenty of time, but the last few weeks are just flying by!

Asteff beat me to anwering your other questions but she is right on the money!

The regular ceromony is very simple and sweet, 15 minutes tops but the WC's can add anything to it that you'd like. They have someone there that will assist with the signing of documents, cutting of the cake and pouring the champagne. The Reef Terrace is fairly sheltered so a Unity Candle would be easy enough to light.

Sandals also has the vases to do a Sand ceremony that you can buy onsite!

What we heard over and over while at the ttraining was that whatever you can dream up they will help you accomplish. I was discussing different ideas and options with Nadine who is the Wedding Manager for all of Jamaica. She loves what she does and is open to pretty much anything that you want to do and will even brain storm on how to get it done! We came up with some neat ideas, especially for trash the dress sessions!

TA Jennifer--I would love to hear any fun ideas you came up with! We actually have 14 people booked and 2 considering going...we really expect maybe 4 at the most! Since they are making such an effort to come, I really want to make it worth their trip (while keeping it affordable!).

You mentioned about being able to buy flowers for your hair and cake in another post...do you do that once you're there or do you have to make arrangements ahead of time? Do you by any chance have pictures of the free bouquets? Thanks so much for the extra help--and for the pictures! I keep checking for new ones!!!

Asteff--

The Floral Elegance PB Collection is beautiful! I'll have to look at the bouquet pictures when I get home to see your bouquet. Everything is organized in a binder and for fear of driving myself mad before August, I decided I really couldn't take it everywhere with me :)

TA Jennifer- you have been sooo helpful so far. I have one more question do you have any examples of some of the professional photographs? I have seen a couple and I am sure you have seen where I said I am not impressed. I think I need to base my decision on more photos. I really need to make decision soon about this. After talking to Darma and determining that I can still have them done I have decided I would have my mind made up by Thursday. The thing is I have an amazing camera I just got and with all the photoshops online I know I can edit my own and look like what I have seen. this is something I love to do anyways. I would love to have pictures like some of the girls I have seen on here and I am bumbed that I cannot choose my own photographer. I just am reluctant to spend that much money on something I feel I can do myself. Well, not really myself but my friend can take for me and I can edit. I just hate to have to have some be distracted by having to take pictures. Make sence??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
