Anyone having a party when they get back for guests who couldn't come???

Considering your situation I think you could easily do the reception later and register, if you feel strange about it, register at practical places where you can get anything and maybe let a few close relatives and friends know and they can spread it around to everyone if you don't really want to say. I would think if people know your planning a June reception you could send out the invites like 6 weeks before. Maybe mention it in the original invite somehow with information to follow at a later date.

We are planning an "Open House" for when we return. We are planning to have it at my parents house. We have a big family, so we figure that my parents can grill out some burgers/dogs/brats/etc. A few people can bring a dish to pass like pasta salad, chips, relish tray, etc. And pretty much the only thing we would have to bring would be the keg of beer for all the drunks. Hahaha. It is actually a really cheap way to do it. While you are on vacation, take some pictures of you and your hubby. When you get back, just get some cheap photo frames from Walmart and put those pictures together, put them on a bit table, and it gives the guests something to look at when they want to. This is really a fun and cheap way to have all the people you want (gifts from hahah lol)

FYI: We are renting a tent, DJ, tables, cattering picnic food, having a keg & bar for 200 people and it is going to cost us $4000. We are probably going to hire a shuttle which will be another $1K. We are having it at the future-inlaws. We are planning on planting flowers in galvanized buckets, stringing christmas lights and lanterns. We are getting hitched 1-23-09 and having the reception on 6-13-09....

I think this is pretty reasonable to do a full blown reception, or at least the guests will feel like it is. I will be more relaxed because I have time to send out the invites when we return from Mexico.

Just ideas.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
