~ I'm back from Riu Negril!!! ~

Thank you so much for this information. We are getting married at the end of August and my mind is just cluttered with so many decisions to make. We were leaning towards Shadows so it's good to hear some positive feedback about it.

Our wedding is at 4pm as well. Was there a long delay between the wedding and the reception? What did you do to fill the gap?

Also, we have 40 people coming so far. Which size cake did you have?

After the ceremony, we took all of our pictures. Then, we had about an hour until the reception (reception at 6:30) so we hung out at the bar and had some drinks. It truly was perfect timing. I don't suggest planning anything specific for your guests in between ceremony/reception, after all they are on vacation, let them relax!!

Cake- we had about 30 guests, so we upgraded to the medium size cake for $110. It was a perfect size, but, MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE WAITSTAFF AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU WANT THEM TO SAVE THE REST OF THE CAKE FOR YOU!!!!! Really..... my mom and mom-in-law were so mad cause after the cake was served, they took it away and we didn't get to have any for the next day! You can just tell them that night during dinner or something to make sure they save it!

Let me know if I can help you more!!

Thanks Amy. Your information and suggestions has definitely helped. I'm now headed in the right direction. smile123.gif

I asked Dionne about the cake. She's saying there's only one kind, just different sizes. I was noticing for the ladies getting married at ROR, they seemed to have choices on flavors and decorations. Are the options at Negril just completely different?

I just had white cake and it tasted great, I don't know what the other options are.

For the decorations, you can really just tell them what you want it to look like and they'll do it. I didn't bring a cake topper of my own, so I just told the florist to decorate the cake however they wanted and it was much better than anything I could have thought of!!(i used the resort's florist). If you don't have something particular that you want, I'd just tell them your colors and they'll make it pretty!!

First of all, Congrats! Thanks so much for the review, we are getting married there in May so its VERY helpful. Love your pictures too!

I have a question for you regarding the reception. We chose Sir Andrew for dinner and are also having a private reception. Does this mean it is automatically at Sir Andrew? I am just confused as to where the actual private reception will be. We are also having a DJ.

Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
