Hi there.

I say start emailing/researching different resort wedding packages now and see which ones offer things that are conducive with what price range you are in and offer what kind things ( activites, all-inclusive deals, etc) you want. That way, you have a clear picture of what's on the table.

Then email the wedding coordinators to set a date and time to meet.

That's what we did and it was SO much better than being shellshocked with pricing and bad resorts! :)

I have stayed at the Moon Palace in Rivera Maya and we are getting married at Dreams Cancun. You may want to decide where you want the location of your resort. The Moon Palace is outside of Cancun (obviusly cuz its in Rivera Maya) and not too much nearby to do. But DC is right in the middle of hotel zone and everything. So you may want to decide if you want to be a bit more confined to the resort or freeer to wander the area.

What are you looking for in a resort? Child friendly? All inclusive? We are going to Cancun as well in 3 weeks for site visits and plan to see the following resorts:

Dreams, Hyatt, Le Meridien, JW Marriott, CasaMagna, Westin

I have heard a lot of good things about Dreams, it's definitely worth checking out. I agree with cmmdee that you should price everything out beforehand. Also, take lots of pictures to help you remember each place. Good luck!

srbina and soon to be Mrs. Glassner -

Hey ladies! I am also going to Cancun for a site visit. I'm going April 23-27...are you going to be there during that time?

I can't decide where I want to look yet either..I'm thinking:

Dreams

Moon Palace

Westin

Hilton

JW Marriott and/or CasaMagna Marriott

Hyatt Caribe

Fiesta Americana Condesa or Grand Coral Beach

I want to narrow it down to the top 3 and only site visit those but that is turning out to be a much harder task than I imagined!

Anyone who has any info/advice on these hotels would be greatly appreciated!

I think the best thing to do is decide what's important to you:

size of the resort

kids allowed or adults only

price range

all inclusive

wedding locations

etc...

and then you can narrow it down that way and visit the resorts you are truly interested in.

For example if you know without a doubt you want an all inclusive, don't bother visiting the non AI, or if you know you will have kids, don't visit the adults only, kwim?

That's just my opinion but I think it will really help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
