What did you do with your Dress AFTER?

Recommended Posts

So, today I will receive my cleaned dress packed in a box. What do I do now?

I live in a tiny flat in london, nowhere to put it, and let's be honest, i'm not going to use it again. But I do love it...

Should I donate it to charity?

Should I keep it?

what did you guys do?

I have not cleaned mine yet eventhough the TTD kind of took care of that.

I am going to keep mine and put it on every once in a while, grab a beer and sit and watch TV.

Oh! Almost forgot I will also be wearing yellow dishwashing gloves, right Jilly?

I tired to sell mine, but with no luck. I think I'll keep mine and make something out of it when I have children. I might donate it if the right person comes along. Let's face it, I'm sure our future children will not want to wear our out of style dresses, and that's if you have a girl and they are the same size as you.

My dress is in the basement in a rubbermaid bin along with a bunch of other stuff I keep for sentimental reasons. I had grand ideas of using it for something but haven't done anything with it in 27 years, except wash it after the ceremony. I offered it to Katie and her reaction was "It has sleeves!" :)

And, btw I can still get it on although it is a bit tight through the chest and waist :)

I just had my mom send it to her house in San Diego, she has more closet space and storage space than I do (I actually have two dresses). I tried to sell the one I didn't wear but got nothing so I might donate the one I didn't wear and keep the one I did for my daughter to play dress up in, I am sure she won't want to wear it.

i second that idea! (or maybe third, jilly?) haha. no seriously, my dress is my dream dress and although i got it at an amazing price, i dont think i could ever bear to part with it just to make more space in my closet. id rather get rid of something else if space needs to be made.

I haven't decided. I like the idea of donation, but I'm kind of a pack rat! I also still love to play dress up and I figure if I spend a grand on anything I should be able to use it more than once or twice!

A friend saved her dress and had her daughter's christening gown made out of the skirt. I really like that idea.

There is also a company that makes quilts out of you dress. I'll see if I can find the link!

Custom Wedding Dress Quilts, Wedding Dress Quilt

This was the first example through google search, but you get the idea!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
