Alterations-LA and surrounding areas

Recommended Posts

Sorry to always dis-include those not from Los angeles or surrounding areas, as I don't think there are that many of us. But when I get some info, I feel the need to share it...

There was another thread about Alterations and how expensive they are and I found that Mon Amie in costa mesa does alterations for anyone's dress even if you didn't buy it at the store. They price it based on what you need. The place I was originally going was a $500 flat rate, whether i did a lot or a little to the dress. I don't know what the prices are like at Mon Amie so that I will have to let you know, but I'm so much happier that It's just per alteration rather than a flat rate. Plus, Mon Amie has ever dress under the sun in their store and they have been open for around 20 years so I feel comfortable with having the alterations done there.

My dress is currently being altered (as i type) at this small shop on sunset and wilcox. My FI got his suit from the Hollywood Suit Outlet on hollywood and they sent him to get all his alterations done at this dress shop behind their location. They did a great job on his suit, so I took BOTH of my dresses (my ceremony gown and my reception gown) there for alterations. I'll let you know how it turns out. They are doing both dresses for $75 bucks!!!

btw: My alterations just consist of taking up both dresses. They were both too long.

I know a lady named Louise who altered two of my friends dresses...and it wasn't expensive at all. She is in Pomona, right off the 71. She runs the business out of her home.

She also made my friends BM dresses and they were only $70. I loved that dress!

I am totally going to have her do my alterations.

PM me if you want her info.

Great finds! My bridal shop included free alterations. They removed straps, hemmed it, made a bustle, and took the dress in for free!

DH almost got his suit from the Hollywood outlet, we lived like 2 blocks from there. He ended up getting it in Westwood but it was a steal too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
