I was just married at Dreams in Feb and the beaches were beautiful.
Actually, they have two very nice private beaches where you don't get vendors or people from other resorts hanging out there.
One is perfect for swimming.
The one on the tower side is a little rougher so you can only go out so far.
This is where the gazebo is and the water hitting the rocks is very cool.

My honeymoon hotel in Playa del Carmen didn't have a beach anymore, but we didn't have the need for a beach then and you walked down a bit and there was a public beach.

This is the best I got from the beaches -

This first pic is from Riu Cancun, you can see Dreams on the end..it had the best beach. I'm guessing the north beaches of Cancun weren't affected as bad as the other beaches along the western coast:

Here's the beach from Riu Palace Las Americas:

Here's the beach from Oasis Cancun..most beaches look like this. Seems they lost more than 20ft. of sand:

I said that because from what I've seen, their beach or beaches look really small.

Wow, they look quite a bit different from when I was last there in August 2003.

I was also there in April 2003 and there was a lot of beach.. sad.gif I was shocked when I went back this year and saw what was left of the beaches. Fortunately for Dreams brides, where its located, theres not much damage. My WC emailed me pics of the beach at my resort.. I think I'm safe enough for a beach ceremony but I'm going to check at my next site visit in May.

I guess it depends which beach you're talking about, one of the beaches is rather large, the ones on the tower side are smaller, but you really wouldn't want to swim over there anyway. Most people hang out at the pool, so the beach is never crowded.

I think the beaches there were beautiful and dreams is a smaller resort, so there really isn't a need for miles of beach.

last time I was there was 2000. The beaches are significantly smaller but looks like from the reviews of Dreams I should be OK.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
