Pricing for rehearsal dinner

I just got pricing for our rehearsal dinner in Cabo and I think it's way over the top...come on, $37.00 for a plate of chicken and ribs (and this doesn't include tax or gratuity) and $18.00 pp for an open bar with a two hour minimum...it will cost us $36.00 for those who drink soda...is this the norm??

eeek that seems awfully high for a rehearsal dinner. one question though.... why do you feel you have to provide an open bar for your rehearsalhuh.gif and how many people are you having?

Hi Maura, we thought an open bar would be nice to offer since most of the guests are staying at an all-inclusive and if they ate at the resort, there would be no cost for food/beverages. We chose an off-site location so people would venture out and see more of Cabo than just the resort.

guests dont expect welcome dinners or rehearsal dinners (unless theyre the bridal party), so to cut costs you should consider nixing the alcohol from the menu for a rehearsal. if they desperately need alcohol, they can pay for it. i dont think youre going to find a whole lot of other places that the prices are going to be much better in cabo. depending on the size of your group, it might just be better to make dinner reservations somewhere. most times when they hear "wedding" anything, they have dollar signs in their eyes and will try to take advantage when they think they can get away with it. my FMIL has argued so much with our resort over little upcharges they wanted to do here and there, and everytime just by bitching about it and threatening to go elsewhere, they backed down and took the upcharges off. just something for you to think about.

We looked into doing something at the Office (I know it's cheezy but we have 90 people coming so we thought it would be fun and laid back) but the price I was quoted was for appetizers and bar:

$25-$30 per person for 4 different apps.

open bar domestic $27 per person

Open bar premium $35 per person.

I don't want an open bar anyway, as no one needs to get too wasted the first night. but if you have seen the office, I was shocked when i saw the prices.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
