My guests all used their travel mugs, well worth the money, the travel candles were also used by most. My guests all used the yellow stick it pads I included. We would leave little messages to each other and leave them on our doors, like gone to breakfast, ect, ect. They really kept us connected to each other:) My guest also loved the milk bath, and body butter. I also put in chapstick lot's of people didn't think to bring any and it really helped in the sun. I don't think there was anything I put in the bags that wasn't used. If you don't mind spending a little money I think a disposable underwater camera is a great idea, most don't think to bring one and they are so expensive at the resort.

I still have lots to get but here is what we decided to put in the bags:

OOT bags from Cheaptotes.com - my friend works at an embroidery shop and she is going to put our logo (Minus the initial) - Basically a palm tree with a circle around it and a dashed circle inside of it with "Puerto Vallarta 2008" on the bottom of the bag. I'll post once she gets me the sample.

travel candles and matches (got at Michaels for $1) - got matches at Ann's Bridal Bargains

first aid kit - Tylenol, chewable Pepto, Tums, Chaser, band aids, neosporin & aloe vera gel

playing cards

Margarita mixes with our names on them

Manicure sets (in BM & MOH bags only)

bottled water

sewing kits with our names on them Ann's Bridal Bargains

welcome letter - www.vistaprint.com

Spanish translation sheet

Maps of the area

Disposable wedding camera

MOH & Bridesmaid OOT Bags - all of the above with:

Manicure sets

Bridesmaid & MOH tank tops

Luggage tags

I feel like I am forgetting something...I'll figure it out later.

I know there is another thread about what people use, but i thought i would let you know that i just recently went to a wedding in hawaii and we used our bag and everything in it. First the bag was great because the only other beach bag i had was too big to bring with me, so i was really happy to see it in the room when we got there. Its never a good thing to have to take your purse down to the beach, and I needed to bring all my stuff. Inside was sunscreen, which was really great because there was always people forgetting it down at the beach and we all needed extra. there was trail mix and nuts which we often needed late night to munch on and those almonds saved me after too many cocktails! There was a special hawaiian drink which was nice, because it was native to hawaii so we wouldn't have had it anywhere else. Flip flops which i still wear today:) and she owns a clothing company so she put tank tops for the women in the bags as well. I loved it and really appreciated it too. Its ok if you decide against it, had I not been to her DW, I wouldn't think they would be important, but now I will for sure do them. Also, I just want to add that her bags didn't have too much in them, so you don't have to go overboard, just be creative and keep it simple.

I am with you on not getting a bunch of stuff that people will probably bring. I have been to 3 DW in the last 2 years and have seen really extravagant OOT bags and really basic ... between that and the ideas on here this is what I have come up with:

  • canvas bags with hawaiian logo (1 per couple or 1 per single)
  • Body Shop travel mango body wash
  • Alba Coconut Creme hawaiian lip balm
  • nail file, polish and all-in-1 clear (for girls only)
  • deck of cards
  • sudoku puzzle book
  • custom stamped post cards (2 sizes)
  • "Our Story" books
  • Itinerary
  • Map of Molokai
  • sensible foods tropical dried fruit
  • first aid supplies (all kinds of travel size)
  • woolite travel size wash pouches
  • travel sunscreen wipes
  • pocket packs of tissues
  • ear plugs
i am stilll playing with the ide of t-shirts / tanks for the guys / girls but we will see :)

We're trying not to do anything that people will bring on their own, either. But aloe, a travel candle (since humidity can cause musty rooms, even in really swanky places), a beach bag, first aid kit.

Something else that might be nice would be snacks that are local to your location. There's an incredible local chocolate shop in Playa del Carmen, for instance, that we'll be working with to supply our chocolate and possibly coffee beans. In Hawai'i, you could put in Kona coffee and/or chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Something not too extravagant, but something that brings local flavor, supports the local economy, and something your guests will appreciate.

Food for thought...? wink.gif

I had stadium cups made with our logos on them, so people could get them filled at the resort instead of the lil cups the resorts give you. A lot of girls put snacks in the bags, which i know i get hungry late at night especially if i was drinking and would love that. What aboout lip balm with sunblock, i think a lot of people forget to pack that. I put some fun things in mine like soduoko (don't know how to spell it) books, playing cards, and rafts. And for the women i got pashminas to keep them warm when it gets chilly at night.

Thanks for reminding me to get matches, the website you posted has a great price for them. That would of been great, my guests with travel candles and no matches, smile105.gif

No problem - we are having a cigar roller at the reception so the matches will serve as a double duty! Honestly - I didn't think about adding the matches to the bags until I remembered we had the candles! smile105.gif

You know, I didn't want to bring anything that someone would bring on their own either... but then I thought about when i'm on a trip and I bring it... but I don't ever bring enough! And that stinks. So, what the heck.

The main things for me that I really wanted in there are

*Bag - duh!

*Mug - some may bring their own, but I think it's fun if everyone has one that matches, and some will forget their own!

*Playing cards... most forget these and it's great for bar games!

*suntan lotion - all though all will bring it, these are little tubes. Easier to take on excursions. And a lot of people underestimate the amount of sunscreen they'll use!

*Lip Balm - I just love chapstick!

*Gun - yeah, who won't use that?

*Shout wipes - margaritas stain!

*First aid kits - not many people remember these things when packing, and sadly I think they'll get used!

*Off wipes, not many people know of the sand mites at night. These will come in handy

*Tums - can always use more!

*Imodium AD - can never pack enough!

*Tylenol - who knows when you'll get a headache!

The rest is just random fun crap...

I ordered matchbooks with our names and date on them because we are having votive placecards and the matchbooks will be at each place seating but I called the airline to see if it was okay to bring them and they said no, not even in checked luggage. Of course I am going to take chance with them (I will remove the matches from the books-we have triangle shaped boxes-and pack the actual matches separately) but thought I would throw it out there in case you hadn't thought of it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
