Jamaica Brides past and present.

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I am getting married in 19 days at Sunset Jamaica Grande at 11am.

Few things I am worried about,

I haven't chose flowers yet.

I haven't booked photographer or videographer.

I haven't picked a location at the resort.

I am hoping for us to have hair and make up done in the salon (4 of us)

My wedding coordinator says leave it all till we get there, but as we don't get to the resort till tuesday evening, and get married on the friday, it doesn't seem like much time. Especially as I'm sure the wedding coordinator has to coordinate other weddings in that time.

Please let me know if any of you have booked all this is advance.

Thanks

From my understanding, the location and flowers can be chosen when you arrive. I think most of us forget that weddings are the job of the resort so they have a system that works. I would however, try to go ahead and make reservations at the salon ASAP. Our resort will allow us to make reservations 2 weeks out for the spa, restaurants, etc.

JamaicaBride062108, I'm getting married at Swept Away too. Thanks for the info about the spa and salon. I was a little worried about being able to get an appointment.

Also, what are you doing for your reception? Will you do the all-inclusive thing (make a reservation for all guests to dine next to each other) since it's paid for or pay extra? I'm in limbo about what I want to do. Our wedding is a Friday night and that's the night of the beach party, so that means no private beach dinner for my guests. Any suggestions?

We just got married at the ROR March 13th. Don't worry they do this everyday. I am not the type of person to just let the planning go until we got there. It all turned out fine. i am not sure how that resort works with reservations but make your hair appt. before you go and the wedding cord. should make the dinner reservations. Good luck and don't worry its a NO PROBLEM island!!! Ha! Good Luck!!

We're taking the free option. The private reception is indoors in the ballroom. I could have that type of reception here! Also, the price kept increasing. Last year when I started it was $35 per person, this year it jumped to $75 per person and then on April 1 it goes up to $95 per person. I can't justify $3500 for a reception!

We'll have dinner at Patois on lobster night (Saturday). I'm kinda bummed I can't decorate or anything, but then again it does save money! I can use what I would have spent to upgrade the ceremony.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me! I've got a great pre-travel booklet I'm sending to all of my guests if you're interested I'mm be more than happy to e-mail it!

I wouldn't worry to much, unless you want something very specific for you flowers. If you just want tropical flowers I'm sure its not a big deal. I leave in less than 2 weeks and I still haven't heard back from the florist.
If you intend to use the resorts photog and video I'm sure they already have a list of the weddings and are planning to cash in on your wedding already!!!
I would try to book the salon stuff though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
