Feeling a little lost

Recommended Posts

I know the answer to my question is out there but I just haven't been able to find it. I've booked my wedding, now what? I've read that the WC emails me a month or two before our wedding but really I have to wait? What about picking flowers and booking for the reception. Anyone have any information that may help me calm down a little?

Well the first thing I would think about is save the dates (if you wanted done that already!) - My recommendation would be to send those out sooner than later to give people plenty of time.

In terms of flowers, food, music, etc. those are things you can start thinking about and getting ideas from here and from the net and other sites - if you find things you like you can email the WC and ask for pricing on things. YOu can also start thinking about things like OOT bags, etc.

We are getting married end of November. Once we had our date and time confirmed, we sent out our save the dates to our guests. So far we have bought my dress and been bridesmaid dress shopping. I have also been emailing with the WC re: menus, flowers etc.

Another aspect you may want to consider is photography given that photogs book up early. Think about whether you want to bring someone down with you or hire someone down there and talk the the resort (or other BDW) to find out about outside vendor fees.

Hope this helps - I totally understand how you feel - better to get as many things done earlier than later!

I'm also getting married at ROR. When I booked my date, I was told the same thing, that the WC would contact me about 2 months prior to the wedding to start planning. Well, there was no way that I could wait that long, so I contacted her about the reception, flowers, ceremony, etc. Most of the girls here have done the same thing. Send Chandlyn an email: weddings.ori@riu.com. It may take her awhile to get back to you, but you can get the conversation started.

Chandlyn doesn't usually contact you, you have to reach out to her. Even though your wedding is in December, you don't have to wait to contact Chandlyn. You can contact her now with the questions/concerns that you have & she will respond. It may take her a few days to respond to you as she is very busy with weddings that are closer in date, but she will get back to you. And you will see that as your wedding approcahes, her response time may be quicker, it really depends!

So, if you have questions about your reception choices, menu's, flowers, go ahead & contact her. You should also check the Jamaica section of the forum & look at the ROR threads. Many past & present brides have posted menu's, reviews of reception locations/choices, floral catalogs, photographer price list & tons & tons of pictures.

I think Melissa gave you great suggestions in where to start. I hope this helps you!!

My resort has also stated that I pick out my flowers, menus, etc. 2 mths before the wedding....but that didn't stop me from emailing my WC with questions and she emailed me all the menus, flower options, extras, etc....It could be a little overwhelming at times but everything will be fine. Make a list of questions/concerns and email it to your WC. Have fun planning.

There are a ton of RIU Ocho Rio brides on here, and there quite a few of us that are getting married within the next month and will be able to answer all your questions (that is, if you can't find the answer posted here already)

My suggestions: BUDGET!, Save the date cards, decide on ceremony location (beach, gazebo, pond), reception location (private dinner at Plantation, poolside, or on beach OR free reception at Mammee Bay) Once you decide on those things it will be easier to start thinking about decorations, flowers, music..

Here is a link to the flower vendor RIU uses. You may also want to consider bringing silk flowers if $$$ is a concern. Tai Flora Services Ltd. - Jamaica's Full Service Florists

Hope this helps smile78.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
