Which one: Couples vs Riu resort in Jamaica?

Recommended Posts

Hi there ladies!! I havent decided which resort to book yet. Originally I was going to go with Riu Ocho Rios, but it's such a big resort, might be lots of kids and the trip from the airport is longer also. Group will be around 10 to 15 adults, with no kids. I got some info my from travel agent and she suggested Negril. So, any thoughts on Negril resorts? Couples vs Riu is where I'm at right now. And with Couples: Negril vs. Swept Away? Will be going in November probably 2nd thru 9th. Thanks so much, sorry for all the questions and the long post! happy easter btw...bunny_4.gif

I am getting married at CSA in June. We liked that it was Adults only. We chose Negril because the trip is a little closer to MBJ at 90 minutes. I was told that there was a lot of road construction on the way to OR that could cause delays. (I don't know if this is still true, but it was when we booked). CSA is the newer of the Couples resorts, or at least the most recently renovated.

TA Jennifer did a great review, complete with pictures, on CSA.

You can also go to the Couples website, Jamaica Resorts: Couples Resorts - All-Inclusive Resorts: Jamaican and read their message boards. Lots of brides have posted pictures and videos there.

ALso use the search button to read the reviews from the Riu here!

Good luck!

If you have no kids going it is nice to be at an adults only resort. I will say that when we were at ROR there weren't many kids at all, there were a lot of Europeans...lol (my family is European so no offense anyone!)

It is large but doesn't seem so big once you are there. Definitely search this site (above, right) because I believe others have asked this question before. Good luck!

my hubby and I stayed at Couples Ocho Rios for our honeymoon and it was great, a smallish resort which was nice for the intimate feeling, great spa and the staff at Couples was awesome.

Wow, thanks so much ladies! You guys are so great, man I love this site!!

We are probably going to go with Couples Negril because there's another resort, Riu Tropical Bay right next door that guests who dont want to/cant afford Couples can stay. Travel agent suggested that one. Might work out the best, so we'll see. Hard to please everyone, & Ihave to keep reminding myself that this is MY wedding after all. I will try to accomadate (sp?) my guests the best I can within reason, of course.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
