Receptions at the RIU??

Recommended Posts

I have a question... We chose the Mexican Terrace for our wedding reception. We have 30 guests total and we are just going with the semi-private. Our WC, Daniela just emailed me that we would only have a small area for dancing and that it would only be allowed for our first dance and NOT for guest dancing. I really want my guests to be able to dance if they want to! We are having the late 8:15 dinner. Does anyone know anything about this? Can we get away with a little dancing on the terrace without paying the $500 site fee? I thought I remember reading someone's thread who did the semi private Mexican terrace and had dancing... hmmm... maybe I am just losing it!

That's exactly what I want to do to!! Besides the the $500 site fee you also have to pay for the extra cost of food right? I have 30 guests as well and after all is said and done it gets really expensive!! Let me know what you find out! Or if anyone else knows, please post!!

That really stinks about the coridinator at Palace. Erika at Santa Fe emails me back with in an hour usually unless its late in the day. What I have read is that most people go to the disco after their dinner reception. I think that is what we are going to do.

Who are you guys using for your photographer? I am having a hard time with this..Bradley is booked and I can't get Gilda to respond back...I have seen pics from the hotel photographer and I'm not real inpressed.

Also, what about your ceremony? I canâ€t decide! I had my heart set on the beach, but the gazebo is really nice! Suggestionshuh.gif?
Regarding the ceremony.... At what time is your wedding? Both the beach and the gazebo are great but it depends what time of the day... Perhaps I am your wedding minister as I have two weddings on Saturday May 24th at the RIU Palace.

Hey Guys!

I am also having my reception at the Mexican Terrace - does anyone have good pictures of this place? I also chose the gazebo overlooking the ocean - its gorgeous! I have booked Bradley as my photographer - he is extremely responsive, and a pleasure to work with so far. His rates are also reasonable! I am not going to pay $500 for any private function, nor am I going to pay per head pricing for dinner!! I think the charges they come up with are insane! This is supposed to be an all-inclusive resort...strange!

I completely understand everyone's frustration! The prices the Riu comes up with are ridiculous! I was married there on April 12th. I believe most bridal parties did go to the disco after dinner. I was able to pay $500 for a private area, but talk Daniella into giving me the Steakhouse food for free. My reception was in the Baja Norte area, but I was not charged a per person food rate. If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!

If you pay the $500 for the terrace at the Mexican Restaurant you have the Terrace for the whole night - 6:30-11:00. Dinner, dancing, etc. This includes food, wine, beer and champagne.

If you choose a semi-private reception it is free, but only for the hour and 45 minutes. depending on the size of your party they will seat other hotel patrons near you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
