Paradisus Riviera Cancun

I can't find much information in the forum about Paradisus Riviera Cancun, and on the hotel's site, I can only find this:

I'm sorry I can't help b/c I don't know much about this place. But if I'm not mistaken someone else on this board wanted to get married here. Oh actually I think she was looking at the Paradisus in Domincan Republic. Maybe try doing a search and see if she got any information on this chain of hotels. At least some basic info that might be of help to you. Sorry I couldn't help.

Still haven't found much, but I think it is pretty expensive, about 400 dollars per night, don't want things to be that tough for my guests... so will probably give up on it.

 

For those of you interested though, it sounds lovely.

I found this review for Paradisus on Trip advisor - Posted Jan 17/07. Has some good info for anyone thinking of this resort for their wedding

 

"Please read this if you plan on traveling anywhere, ever. It will be long but worth it.

Let me remind several people of the fact that when you travel to an non-American or Non-European country there will be things that are "different" than what you are accustomed to. Be open minded. This was our 2nd trip to Mexico and we stayed at this resort to get married and moved to Secrets Excellence next door for our honeymoon which was also EXCELLENT!

 

We got married at the Paradisus in May06. I can only say that it was nothing short of the best decision I ever made. Our guests had a wonderful, relaxing time. The resort bent over backwards to accomodate the time, location, decorations, cake, EVERYTHING for my wedding. They even supplied a stereo system (we did go a few rounds about this one but not a big deal). The resort was hit by the hurricane but were assured everything would be back to perfect by then and it was! They even changed ownership and wedding coordinators a few months before our wedding and it was still the stress free and beautiful experience I was hoping for. We got married on the beach and it was arranged perfectly with covered chairs, flowers, an "alter" that was beautifully decorated with lots of flowers, private dinner reception (extra $)--the WORKS!

 

My husband and I booked the Royal Service (a requirement for the free wedding package) and it was well worth it especially for dinner reservations. We had no problems getting the restaurants we wanted--we just asked (politely). Our personal butler was magnificant and the RS check in was overwhelming. Our butler was especially helpful when my husband came down with Decompression Sickness (due to scuba diving) on our wedding day. He immediatley got us in touch with medical help and my husband was good as new several hours later for our wedding! On our wedding night he came and filled our balcony hottub with bubbles and decorated it with candles and flowers--free of charge!

 

The "walk" to get from the furthest room to the main lobby is about 5-7 minutes (and that is walking slower than normal) so if you are an able bodied person this should not be an issue. For those who complain that this is too far the excercise probably did you good. I understand this could be a pain with small children but you could always request a "pick up".

 

The staff was fabulous--the water aerobics instructor was HILARIOUS and EVERYONE was polite and accomodating.

We learned from our experience that tipping is always a nice thing to do no matter where you go. It's $1 to us--to them it's way more. You tip in restaurants for good service why shouldn't you tip them--they are probably making $2/hr.

 

The entertainment in the main lobby was ok--this is a resort where you can relax so there isn't a ton of nighlife. The shows were actually a neat experience. The main lobby area is WONDERFUL and open as you can lounge on the sofas and chairs and enjoy the Riviera breeze and mingle with the other guests.

 

If you are a couple or honeymooner--do not fear the children. We were there in May and there really weren't many kids at all--and the ones who were there were very well behaved and entertained. There is a kids pool and kids entertainment area.

 

The food and drinks were very good. Liquor was not "bottom shelf" but mid grade and plentiful. Do not fear the ice--the ice is made with filtered water. These resorts thrive on tourism--they are not going to give you something that they know will make you ill. As for the quality of food--it's Mexico, not the US, not Canada, not Europe--it is not "world reknown" but it's very good.

 

The beach is nice for the most part. For those who complain about the seaweed--here is a geography lesson: The Riviera Maya is situated on a living and protected reef. This is why the waters are a little rougher and a little "dirtier" than the waters you will see in Cancun when you come into the area. But they clean the beaches daily and it's not that big of deal. If it really bothers you--stay at the pool (which is very large!).

 

We love Mexico and we would definitely reccommend this resort if you are looking for a great value and stress free time!"

I am having my wedding at the Paradisus Riviera in May. One reason why I chose this resort is because they perform only one wedding per day. I know someone who attended a wedding at this resort. She said the wedding was beautiful!!!! She also said the restaurants in the hotel were very good although she did not like the food at the reception. At the wedding she attended the bride had a "Mexican buffet" which she said was not good. She did stress that it was beautiful and very nice wedding. I think if you had a sit down meal it might be better but I would look into the dinner choices available. hope this helps.
