Any opinions with Half Moon/Rose Hall Resort??

Recommended Posts

I am possibly considering Jamaica as a destination for my wedding for mid-November. I am not sure yet since I am not 100% satisfied with the destination itself. I would have liked to be in a place like st. martin or st. lucia (that type of scenery) however I am having a hard time finding a hotel that I like in st. martin. St. Lucia's flights are too expensive for my group out of NY.

i was looking into Half Moon or Rose Hall Resort & country club...not sure which would be a better option. I am anticipating about 50 adults and 6 kids. I am so picky and am looking for a nice and fun resort for all ages for 4 - 5 days.

Please help!!!

Thanks!!!

Hey! I was kind of in the same position, and I did look into both before choosing ROR. Half Moon looks beautiful, and it was recommended to me. But its very expensive, and you have to pay more for it to be "All Inclusive." Also, although kid friendly, it doesnt really cater to kids. Rose Hall is in the process of being renovated and it looks pretty nice, but the beach is REALLY small. I'm not sure the renovations are complete and I know they have been working on that for a long time and missing deadlines. Have you looked at or considered ROR?

There was a thread about Rose Hall Resort already but I can't seem to find it.

I have been to the Rose Hall Resort and we had a great time. It is newly renovated and most of the construction is done.

We considered getting married at Half Moon because it is a beautiful resort. The prices are up there though, pretty close to the same as the Ritz's prices.

There is another bride on the forum who is getting married at Rose Hall so hopefully she can give you some more insight. I think either place will be a great choice. Good Luck!

Hello !! well, I am getting married at the Rose Hall next month !!! When I come back, I will provide a full review with pictures ... they did a multi-million $$$ renovation to the place and they are apparently completely done. Their prices went up since last year but I was able to lock into my contract with last year's prices. We have about 150 guests and the resort is kid friendly (they even have a small waterpark). If you have specific questions about the Rose Hall Resort, don't hesitate to let me know ...

If you can send me any photos or anything that you think would work for either Half Moon or Rose Hall, that would be great!

I am not looking to get married in the sand...more like a garden overlooking the water and in a pretty private area. I am considering November but am nervous w/the weather patterns down in Jamaica so I think we may choose January instead if we move forward with Jamaica. I was really pushing more towards one of the BVI or USVI or one of the St. Martin type of islands but am having a hard time finding a hotel that would suite everyone and their budgets or something that would be fun and accommodating!!

We need direct flights out of NY at least in one direction.

I am so stressed and confused because I am all over the place with every destination. I got back from Cabo 2 weeks ago thinking the wedding would be there just to find how annoying the flights were from my area.

Half Moon is gorgeous it's my future bro-inlaws favorite hotel in the world he says and he's a tour guide for an int'l travel co. and has stayed at alot of first-rate hotels --but its waaaay on the pricey side. If you can afford I say go for it. I mean it's not everyday you get married!

I think whatever you choose will be beautiful. We were having the same problems with flights to some of the other areas so that is why we choose Jamaica. I would go with your gut and once you choose you will be happy with that choice. Even after we chose the RIU I was really nervous but everyone here has been so helpful. I'm sure you will be able to find brides at your resort choice to talk with and exchange ideas

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
