I've decided to do the message in the bottle for my STD. But I have a question for those of you have already done this. How did you get the scroll out of the bottle? Did you attach a string to it or something? I'd hate to send them to everyone and they not be able to get the invite out.

That was kinda the joke going around.... I dont know if just didnt invite the most intelligent people to the wedding or what but sooooo many people tipped the bottle over to get it out.... Hellohuh.gif? There is sand in there, and glitter, and seshells and on and on... SO needless to sai I didnt do anything I heard alot of stories though on how they tried to get it out...

Check out this thread for how we did ours. We ended up getting twine and tying it around each rolled up postcard, then up, out, and around the bottle top and held in place by waxing the cork on. Then pull the rope to break the wax, and out comes the message!

I didn't make them but I agree, if you don't tie something around them, they will unroll/expand and will be difficult to get out. I love the ones with the string/raffia tied around it and then attached to the cork so it's really easy for your guests to pull out your message.

this is exactly what i did too, but when i started calling people to ask if they got their invite NO ONE had taken the scroll out of the bottle. They all thought it was too pretty and didn't think they would be able to put it back together. My aunt said she wanted to look at it for a few days before she opened it.

Typical guests wink.gif At least you know you did a good job and they were in awe of how awesome they looked!

we tied a piece of raffia around it to keep it closed, and had another long piece thru the top which went around the cork. so when you pulled the cork, you pulled the invite.

however, many people didn't re-tie them to put the scroll back in, and then they had a problem...but i did my partwink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
