Welcome to the forum. I've photographed two receptions that were after the wedding, way after the wedding. One couple were married in Switzerland and had a reception here in L. A. for all of their Stateside friends and family, and that was during their Christmas break, and in between moving countries. So they fit it into everyone's schedule, and having a holiday time reception worked for them. They are now in Sydney! Lots of frequent flyer miles, wink.gif This couple waited six months.

The other couple got married down in Cabo and then three months later had a Halloween themed reception for all of their friends and family, although most of the fam went with them to Cabo.

I think its really up to you and what works best for your group of people that are going to be attending the reception.

hth,

smile123.gif Welcome and Congratulations!

I am planning a formal AHR 1 1/2 months AFTER our DW. I knew we'd want a little down time after getting home from our DW, and also knew we might need a little extra time for all those little touches that I might have forgotten because I was focussing so much on the DW. There's a couple great threads on the site where people spit out very good reasons for having one right away and then waiting!

Just start searching...you're gonna find everything you need/want and MORE! cheer2.gif

Welcome to the forum!!

Three and a half months is not too long and you could definitely put

"no gifts please. your presence is your present" if you are worried about the whole gift problem. Maui is wonderful! I'll be there this November for a wedding. I'll let you know how it goes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
