I think we have already seen this is way too much for the mods to keep up with so I like that it's now our own responsibility.
It's not that it's too much for the mods to keep up with- it's more that we've had a too many irresponsible brides that for one reason or another either lose or destroy the journal and/or starfish, or can't manage to drop it in the mail so the next person gets it in a timely fashion. We're not babysitters! Then, we were dealing with upset people because the starfish didn't get to them in time... Just a word of warning for those of you that want to start passing stuff on.

Ditto what Sarah said ... we were happy to organize the whole thing, but other than actually coming to people's houses to pick up and drop off the starfish and journal, we couldn't figure out a way to get people to be responsible. Don't get me wrong, there were some brides that were very considerate and took care of the starfish and journal, and passed it along just as they agreed to do, most actually were able to do this successfully. But the few that weren't able to live up to their end of the bargain unfortunately ruined a fabulous tradition for the rest of us. So we've been trying to come up with a way to continue this tradition, because we really do love the idea of it, without having to constantly harass brides to do what they signed up to do in the first place!

I'm sorry if I sound a little bitter, but it's just that there's been so much work put into this, especially by Courtney and Shelley, and they've been taken advantage of and in some cases, treated with disrespect, IMHO.

Ok, not sure where that came from ... but I'm done ranting!

So, in summary, pass on your cherished starfish at your own risk!

Yeah, that's what I meant. It's too much for the mods to have to keep up with when people don't do their part. It wouldn't have been hard if people followed the rules. So I think it's better taking the responsibility off the mods to keep up with it & just have people buy their own. I'm sorry to hear people were so inconsiderate to Shelley & Courtney. I hope the new system works smoothly & no one ruins the fun.

I don't mind passing mine on because I don't want it back.

i debated before i bought my "j" about whether to get both or just one and decided to get the monogram bc i really don't have anything in my wedding with a starfish, and i think FI will appreciate seeing the J b/c for the longest time i didn't want to change my last name. So this is a little bit of a white flag.

So, guess i won't be part of the journal... its a very cool idea though

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
