Melia Caribe Tropical: Q&A Related specifically to this hotel

Recommended Posts

Updated with 2009 info:

What type of wedding packages do they have?

Based on 2009 information I got from the coordinator they offer 3 types:

* Free Symbollic - if you stay in the Royal Suites Section and have less than 12 guests

* Tides - includes semi-private reception for up to 24 guests - ~$1296 US

* Tropical Fairy Tale - includes private reception for up to 24 guests ~1728 US

These prices are without the extra's (Horse & Carriage, Trio, beach dance floor, extra people, etc.).

How do you book?

Nonrefundable deposit is 35% of the package you choose due when you request your date, ceremony type and location sent via wire transfer or cheque to name specified in the Celebrations PDF. Also there are two forms to be completed (one in excel with wedding details and the other is the official contract between you and the resort).

PM me if you want the full details. I can send you the PDF with the full details for 2009 Packages.

Princess: We have 19 booked and are expecting at least 10 more (hopefully). My TA warned me, however, that some will book closer to the date or travel or even last minute! I'll send you some info if you want me to but also check out Shellb's thread...lots of info on there as well!

I know that the Melia is pretty big resort and that some of the rooms are close to the beach pools, and then some of the rooms are set back close to the lobby and restaurants. I know there is at least one buffet restaurant in the section close to the beach. Are any of the a la cartes on the beach, or are they all towards the back of the resort? Also, I read a couple of reviews on trip advisor that said a downside of having rooms in the area close to the beach is that after dinner there are no restaurants or bars open in this area, so you have to go all the way to the back section of the resort if you want anything to eat or drink? Is this truehuh.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
