Hi all

I'm getting married at the Melia on November 9, 09. I've had trouble reaching the wedding coordinator too. It seems a bit sporadic - sometimes she replies right away, other times it takes ages! I have been doing most contact through my travel agent lately, because she seems to have more luck - actually I think she just calls!

Jennierin - Hi, I'm getting married at the Melia Caribe in November. I notice you posted some pictures of a new beach gazebo in this thread. I had no idea there was such a gazebo! No one has ever mentioned it to me in my planning process as an option and I've never seen those pictures before!? I can't believe it - I thought the only gazebo was the big garden gazebo that everyone uses. I guess now I have a decision to make! Do you know how many people that gazebo can take? Where exactly is it? Thanks!

Hi erinleigh!

The beach gazebo was only built for March 2009. It is now included in the 2009 information package and costs an extra $$$ amount. I am unsure how many people the gazebo can take but it looks like it's a lot smaller than the garden gazebo. I don't know of any brides who have used it before but it is a great option if you wanted a beach wedding but with a little more privacy. I don't know where exactly it is located either...try to get a hold of one of the WC's and they probably would be able to give you a better answer than me! wink.gif

I see that you are getting married November 9th! Two weeks after me... when will you be arriving at the Melia? My FI and I are staying until November 6th! How exciting! Congrats girl!

Congrats to you too!! Yeah, I'm interested to learn more, so I'll probably email Laura - is that your coordinator too? She's a bit hard to reach sometimes!

We did originally consider a beach wedding, but I was concerned about privacy, so this might be a nice alternative.

I'd love to see some real pictures from the gazebo - maybe over the next few months some brides will take advantage and share their pics!

We are actually arriving on November 6th! Funny! I'm not sure yet what time we get in though?

Erin and Jennie,

Our wedding is October 11th :) We are doing the beach, but may change our mind to the beach gazebo after seeing it. It is extra $$ for either. The beach gazebo is new, it wasn't there 2 years ago when we were there for vacation.

We are expecting 40-50 people. We are having a private reception at the amphitheatre. Jennie, I am an RN too and have 19 people booked!! LOL.

GAH! Figures. Oh well, I looked at the brochures people had posted from 2009 - I'm going to assume a 10% increase in price for next year. We don't want a private reception so one of the restaurants will do - though I do hate the idea of picking a meal for everybody since you can only have one....

Sorry to ask again, but does anyone whether there are still bars/restaurants open close to the beach in the evening hours? Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
