Melia Caribe Tropical: Q&A Related specifically to this hotel

Recommended Posts

I had permission as well and all we had to do was buy guest passes. Apparently the rules have changed.

The latest I heard it is local vendors. It really shouldn't matter if you fly a photographer in or have a local, you are paying for them to be there and that is all that matters.

I would try to get that in writing from a manager at Melia as well. I had this issue come up several months ago with Photosouvenir and Dreams (maybe for different reasons but the same decision) and the WCs kept telling me no, yet the AmResorts corporate office said they were allowed. finally I was able to get a manager's name at Dreams, who assured me (in writing) that there would be no issue having Photosouvenir enter the resort. I asked them to cc the WCs on that email so that we are all on the same page and he did. After that, the WCs never bothered me again about the photographer. I hope it all works out for you and the other Melia brides. :)

Thank you Jessica. It's seems darn near impossible to track down the GM for the resort. My TA was trying yesterday and got re-directed to everyone except the GM all day long. I am actaully thinking on emailing Sol Melia America's Head Office in Florida to see if there is a policy or lack there of even though the coordinator has gone back to the original agreement. I remember how the issue popped up again at Dreams and I don't want that to happen to us as well.

Here is the email I got from them regarding the issue.

Dear Leah,

Receive our warmest regards from Meliá Caribe Tropical.

I hope this email finds you well.

Please be informed that is not true that Melia Caribe Tropical not allowed outside vendors.

Always remember the outside vendors must pay for the day pass from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm 95 US$ and for the night pass from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am .

Have a great day. It is a pleasure to assist you.

Should you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Laura Kreutz

It puzzles me how all of this started and why PhotoSouvenir was told outside vendors were not allowed on the property. I can't wait to hear what the bride who was told she couldn't have the photographer she wanted because the policy had changed has to say when she gets back. Her wedding is today and I do hope it is beautiful.

I think a gained a few more grey hair from the stress of thinking I was not going to get the photographer we wanted. I just hope it doesn't change again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
