Having an invitation mini-crisis, can you help?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so we got the proofs of the invitations from mygatsby and assembled them and we both agree they look really horrible, and we need to pick new invitations. It literally looked like a $400 bad DIY project gone wrong. I dont want to spend that much money on something we are so unhappy with.censored.gif

I saw other invitations from white aisle that i loved and am thinking about ordering a sample. the one i like best is this one below (but we would order in navy and light blue or navy and green - i am showing you the navy and green combo below just to see the navy):

The invitation setup we need would include the 4x9 invitation and 3 enclosures: one for RSVP directions directing them to our website, one for accomodations info, and one for info about the reception. My FI doesn't really like them but at this point agreed to let me do whatever so that I'm not stressed about it anymore. But the setup we need is sorta pricey. $5.75 each which is a bit more than I wanted to spend.

I'm wondering if I could actually do these myself to cut the cost, but I have no idea where I would get the graphic. I am just worried because I would need to order the ones from White Aisle no later than April 5th in case it takes the full 4 weeks to receive them--we need to send out by May 10 in order to get all our RSVPs back in time for the Westin's deadline for the final headcount. Anybody have any suggestions where to get it? Maybe I should see if Anny can do them...

If I am understanding correctly, the setup is putting the invitation together and putting them in envelopes and sending them out? You can totally save money and do that your yourself (with the help of your friends). We had a system down when we did it for my sister. We bought pizzas and had wine while about 8 of us did this. It took a couple of hours, but saved a lot of money. But, be careful, I ended up with small cuts on my cuticles from the envelope hitting them over and over and I got ruined an invitaiton because I didn't know that I was bleeding.

no the setup i was referring to is the cost of the invitation plus enclosures. i am putting them in each envelope myself already. the outer envelope with our return address is also included in the price.

Is it absolutely necessary you have all those enclosures? Since most of that information is on you website, are your guests savvy enough to look it up there?

I tried to find graphics like that too. I was unsuccessful. I think the whiteaisle invitiation is beautiful. I hope someone can help you!

Okay - the invitation I found that I want to use is kind of like this..(Kind of).

It is on www.exclusivelyweddings.com

Go to the "Extrordinary Love with Swirling Navy Flowers" invitation.

I have been looking like crazy to find something like the invite you have above from White Aisle but none were in our price range. These ones were VERY reasonable.

See what you think.

Maura, there is a thread on here where Sarah talks about how she found hte graphics for her new buisness logo, I don't know if you like that idea, but I remember someone saying they found their paisley graphics by googling "paisley graphics". Maybe if you can figure out what those beautiful graphics are called you could do it that way? I'll get back to this in a min I'm gonna go look..

OK and just off the top of my head, since you are already able to upload a pic of the actual white aisle invite including the graphic, could you just insert that pic to Paint, 'cut' out the graphic itself, and copy and paste it on top of your own word doc (or whatever Mac has!)? I don't know if that would be copyright infringement tho?? Yikes. It might be worth a shot?

i suppose on the rsvp enclosure we could direct them to the website for info on accomodations... so that cuts out one enclosure and brings the cost down to $4.75 per invitation set. which is much more agreeable! we absolutely have to have the RSVP enclosure for obvious reasons and the reception card because the ceremony and reception are not at the same location.

rach, i dont remember seeing your invitations... can you post a link for me?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
