I looked at the Riu website. It looks like one is 1.8 miles from Playacar and the other is 1.9 miles away, so they essentially are in the same location. The map here just doesn't differentiate the two resorts.

Riu Palace Mexico:
Hotel Playa del Carmen, Mexico Hotel Riu Palace Mexico
* Located on the Yucatan peninsula, 3 km / 1.9 miles from Playa del Carmen
* Within the Playacar resort, along with the Riu Palace Riviera Maya, Riu Yucatan, Riu Playacar and the ClubHotel Riu Tequila hotels

Riu Palace Riviera Maya
Hotel*Playa del Carmen, Mexico*Hotel Riu Palace Riviera Maya
* Located in the Yucatan peninsula, 2.8 km / 1.8 miles from Playa del Carmen
* Within the Playacar resort area, along with the Riu Yucatan, Riu Playacar, ClubHotel Riu Tequila and the Riu Palace Mexico hotels

I have found several wonderful maps using the follwoing website: Riviera Maya Hotels, Resorts, Rentals: Mexican Caribbean Vacation this website is awesome. Not only does it have several aerial maps (some a little dated, but gives the location), but the site is full of information such as restaurants, restaurant reviews, beaches/beach reviews, resorts/resort reviews, etc.....

Much of the information on the website will have photos, and hyperlinks to connect you directly with each site. I have found that many of the sites that do not have hyperlinks, you can Google the name and find the pertinent restaurant, bar, hotel or whatever it is you need additional information on.

I am unable to copy the maps to give each of you on the site due to protection, but here is the direct link to all the maps: Riviera Maya Map: Aerial photos, road map, Mexico

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
