LONG EDR Review

Recommended Posts

This is the longest review. I swear I do have a life!! I just didnt want to leave anything out! Hope it all makes sense as I was typing as thoughts came to me head. I can't figure out how to do the whole picture thing but hopefully I will get that worked out soon. Best of luck in your planning :)

wowsers!! you were right - I think that is officially the longest review! But it was awesome - I read all of it and it was very helpful!!

I am very glad that in the end it all worked out and you enjoyed your wedding - but I'm sorry about some of the shit that happened along the road. Good for you though, for keeping it all in perspective and not letting it ruin your day.

Have you already posted pics? I would love to see them!!

thanks again for an awesome detailed review :)

Lauren, you weren't kidding that was a long review! I feel really bad that you had so many bumps in the road sad.gif That definitely stinks and I can see why you wouldn't personally recommend EDR.

For all of the EDR brides reading this review, I just want to say that we had a entirely different experience. I think part of this is that when I came up against obstacles I decided to avoid the situations rather than get them to do things they weren't used to, such as rehearsals. So we skipped the rehearsal which wasn't too big of a deal for us.

We had also worked out prior to arrival that we were bringing an outside photographer so there was no on-site conflict about this one and the staff was incredibly courteous to Vincent and Diego.

As for changing locations the day before, I had ready posts that they are very reluctant to make changes once you sign everything b/c in actuality you are signing documents agreeing to locations and what not. That said, I do think that could work on being accommodating to couples but given how many weddings they do I can understand to some extent their reluctance.

We also had a disappointing site visit there. They basically didn't know we were coming and wouldn't work out any of the details with us. Later I realized this is b/c it is the job of Valeria and Monica to work out details and the on-site coordinators to implement it. We had Valeria and I think that helped account for a better experience. I've heard from many brides that Monica is not organized and your review clearly reinforces that. I would suggest that future brides request Valeria.

SOOOO, Lauren, sorry that you had to go through so much hassle but hopefully other EDR brides can learn from your experience.

When do we get to see photos?

Thank you so much for the review, it was long but I'm glad you were that detailed.

I'm also using Berman, so I'm glad to hear that if I have issues I can turn to them. They've been amazing so far.

Do you think the tiki torches were worth it at Tucanes? Were they around the area of the reception or to the path leading up to it?

I loved your review. I'm expecting mine to be about the same length (when I went to the Punta Cana Princess in November I wrote a review that was a 7 page long word document and that was just a vacation not my wedding!). I find it so helpful to read about all the little issues rather than just reading a one page review that gives an overview without getting into details.

I'm sure all the EDR brides will appreciate it a lot.

I also think your overall conclusion is very fair, by saying that brides who booked shouldn't worry too much (although be prepared for a few difficulties) but that those who haven't booked may want to consider elsewhere (since there are so many resorts to choose from, why choose a difficult one if you don't have to?)

Dang! That was long, but I really think it will be very helpful, not only to future EDR brides, but to brides currently considering that resort.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
