HELP!!! FI can't dance!!!

Recommended Posts

We finally started choreographing our First Dance. I LOVE to dance and studied dance for over 15 years. My FI, on the other hand, can't move both feet at the same timesmile29.gif

My dilema.......i want to really dance and "show off" for our first dance, but the way things look for now, he would be more comfortable just standing in one spot and gently rocking from side to side. I'm trying my best to "teach" him, but I don't really think that he wants to learn. I'm getting a little frustrated, but trying to be patient with him because I know that he is not a dancer, but ARRRrrrggghhhh!!!!!

i hope he doesn't see this postrant.gif

When I read the thread name I laughed out loud!

My fiance has NO RYTHM EITHER!

HE EVEN suggested that we practice at home before the wedding. I totally agree.

Maybe you can practice at home to get him to loosen up some. Turn on some music, light some candles...it could be fun!

my friend was in the same boat so they took dance lessons, but then on their wedding day he was so uncomfortable and so nervous about dancing, he totally forgot all the steps. she was so pissed, and it shows in their photos. it looked like they were having the worst time, and you could see her counting out the numbers for the steps so he would follow, but he just couldnt. haha so dont expect too much from a FI that can't dance, do what is comfortable for him because otherwise he will just end up looking like a horse's ass

I don't want to take dance lessons, because i am the one doing the choreography, I'm essentially giving him the lesson but he is so distracted and clumsy.......lol I even tried to make it fun for him by telling him that he can choreograph some of the steps also........he says okay, and then just stands their rocking from side to side. LOL

I want us to practice more, but then he thinks I'm hounding him.

Same situation here, only reversed. Matt loves to dance and I hate it. Like really hate it. We started dance lessons on Monday night and I really am counting on it making me comfortable enough to be able to do our first dance. Otherwise, if that doesn't work, you might have to realize that you are marrying your FI for who he is, and that might not be a dancer. I hope things work out (my FI would LOVE to do a choreographed dance as our first dance, but is it hard enough for me to get up the courage to do even a simple dance!)

LOLOLOL........this is so true......i told him that if he wanted to, he can just stand their and I would dance around him, but then he just thinks that I'm being an attention whore!! I just love to dance and of all nights to dance, I want it to be on my wedding night!!!

I personally wouldn't make him do it. learning to dance should be fun. if it's not fun for him too, I'd skip it. I was at a friends playing board games & her roomate was taching her FI to dance before their wedding. She was getting so mad at him because he couldn't do it. She was yelling at him & I'm sure he felt terrible. It's really frustrating to not be able to get something & the worse you feel about it the worse it gets. it comes natural to some people, but others just can't do it.

Just do the 8th grade rock & fade out the song. Have you thought about making a routine with some BMs or guests? I love to dance & my friends & I have a silly routine we do.

no, I don't want to skip it.......it's important to me and I don't want to make him feel uncomfortable, but I really don't want to not have a "first dance". And as far as my guests or friends, half of them haven't even rsvp'd yet, and I'm not having a bridal party, so no BM or MOH.....and plus, there is no one else that I'd rather dance with other than my FI.

Same boat. Billy just "doesn't" dance..unless he's ripped outta his gourd.

I'm not planning to fuss over it. He says I can have my one "first dance" and then thats it. I'm fine with it and know we'll be out there shuffling like old folks. It is what it is. hahaha. I'd LOVE to be able to do a nice elaborate choreographed type thing, but know I will never in a million years get his consent on that one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
