Yay!! I'm so happy so many NJ ladies responded to this thread!

Cristinimartini- Sorry to hear about your grandfather, but that's beautiful that you were able to have a ceremony at home for him to witness. We're getting married in NJ before we leave too. Nothing fancy just going to the courthouse a month before and filling out the paperwork. I think it will just make things easier on me instead of worrying about translanting documents and paying extra money for it.

JerseyKitten- We're so close! Don't worry I'm paying for dress alterations too. I got my dress at Castle Couture in Englishtown (I think it's really Marlboro). I considered going to Kleinfeld's but considering the distance and price I reprioritized. It's so convenient having the dress shop 5 mins away. I heard great things about Cinderella Bridal and am probably going there tomorrow to find a dress for my sister.

Dana- I wish we were eloping almost every day. We would still do the DR thing but not invite anyone. Everyone is being less than helpful with the DW. I know it's expensive and inconvenient for some people but I don't really want to hear about it from them. This forum has saved my sanity now that I know I'm not the only B2B that is getting bothered about having a DW.

Hello to everyone else I missed. Soooo how do you guys want to go about planning a meet up? Any suggestions. I'm still pretty new to this forum and I'm not too sure how this goes.

NJ Brides! I had to share my ridiculous experience this afternoon. I figured some of you would find this interesting...I went to Diane & Co. (Freehold) with my mom to look for MOB dresses. Anyways I was not looking my best (jeans, t-shirt, NO make-up) normally I really don't care but I learned my lesson today! My mom goes in the dressing room to try on a few dresses and suddenly there's a camera crew in the dress shop!! Turns out the Oxygen Channel is trying to make a reality show with the store called "Jersey Couture". So my mom comes out of the dressing room in a very pretty dress that is a bit sheer so her bright pink underwear is showing through! Not only does she get on camera with the owner talking about her boobs but she starts talking about my ex-bf! I was beyond embarrassed esp. when the camera guy turns to me when I yelled at her to stop. The show is supposed to air sometime this spring so if you want to go "shopping" there you might get on or if you catch it on TV that's me and my mom.

Oh Tracy, that is too funny! And I'm sure you looked just fine. You're mom sounds like a handful though :)

Now is it just me, or is Jersey like the new hottest thing with reality tv now. Jersey Shore, Jerseylicious, and now this show. Is Jersey really set to become a tourist spot now. Lol

Anyway, Tracy, congrats on becoming a mini-celeb! Hehehehehe. So did your mom end up getting a dress there?

Haha, thanks Jenise! Yeah she definitely has a strong personality but she was just being herself. She did buy her dress. It's a long flowy kinda beach dress, but very nice! She's in great shape and I liked it a lot. NJ is getting outta control with these reality shows. Should be interesting to see how this one turns out...

My mom and I went to Diane & Co too - I saw the sign outside that they might be filming at any time but they weren't when they were there. That store is amazing - you can't tell how huge it is from the outside!

II also sometimes wish we eloped - sometimes the planning gets to me but now that I'm a week out I just can't wait for it to get here and wish it was NOW!!!!!

We were originally going to get married here first, but then FI said that if we were making everyone schlep down to Jamaica, they better watch us REALLY get married - since he has let me do EVERYTHING I want with the wedding, I have let him have his occasional request rofl.gif

Are any of you guys having an AHR too?

My parents are making us a party when we get back at Doolans in Spring Lake, May 22. it was supposed to be just for the people who couldn't make it to the wedding, like my sister, which is a long story, but now they are inviting their friends that i didn't invite to the wedding, because the wedding was for OUR friends...but whatever - will probably be about 40 people. .

I know this planning thing gets to be alot, but mostly b/c of the people that like to make things difficult! I've maintained my cool through it all though and it makes my mom happy that I'm not eloping so it's worth it. I know I won't regret it. We are getting married before even though my FI didn't want to, but the paperwork hassle will be so much less. We got engaged at the Jersey Shore where we meet in September so I was suggested to him that we have our legal day there too. We'll see if he buys into it. We aren't telling anyone b/c people would be disappointed and want to come.

I don't live to far far from Freehold is it worth it to go there with my mom? Are all the dresses really expensive. She found a BCBGmaxiara dress she loves but it's really expensive although I have a feeling she is going to land up getting it. Also, my MIL is a bigger women do they have plus size there?

I don't think we are going to do an AHR. My parents are pushing for it and I don't think I want to spend the extra money. It doesn't help that we are getting married in Nov. I would have had a BBQ if we were getting married in Spring/Summer.

That's too funny! I read about that show and Jerseylicious in the paper a couple of weeks ago. The salon that Jerseylicious is at is 5 mins away from my parents house and during college I used to work a couple of stores down from it. I heard from someone that went in there recently and said none of them were working their on the sat she went in.

I got engaged at the shore too - our first date and our engagement were at Sandy Hook!

Diane & Co did not have larger sizes when I was there with my mom - and the dresses run small - they barely had size 12s - and they were at least $200 +. You might want to try Lord & Taylor though - they have a great dress selection and run a lot of sales. And there's also a BCBG store in Jackson Outlets - I got a great buy on my rehearsal dinner dress there.

Thanks for the info. I just don't want to take my MIL anywhere she is going to be uncomfortable. She is a bit homely (if that's a word) and I have never seen her dressed up so Im thinking David's bridal. We checked the Jackson Outlets for my mom's dress but of course it is a brand new style so it's no where yet except the BCBG store and Nordstroms.

We got in Wildwood.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
