Hi,

I'm finding that it's still pretty expensive to do a wedding in Cabo. BUT, I think that if you are willing not to make your decor so fancy, Destination is the best way to go and save on your wedding. What I mean is that the beach is beautiful in itself so you don't need to go over the top on flowers and things, that can save you a lot of money. Also many quotes are priced per guest so if you are having less people come because you are going farther away that will help. Is your heart set on Cabo? If not I would look into places that aren't as expensive. Cabo seems (from my location tracking) to be on the higher side of things. I have looked into Puerto Vallarta and that seemed to be much more affordable. I looked in a small town called Sayluta and things were GREAT prices. My Fiance and I were just really set on Cabo since we have spent every summer there for the past 5 years. Anyway, I hope that helps and good luck with planning!

In my opinion the cost to have a wedding in Mexico and the US tends to be about the same, although it really shouldn't be given that prices in Mexico are way cheaper. What ends up making a big difference is in the number of guests that actually attend a DW.

Another thing to consider is that it also sounds like you have exactly an idea of what you want for your wedding. Many resorts have very strict rules about what types of decorations or types of vendors you can have. You are more restricted than if you were having it in a ballroom at your Hometown.

Welcome to the forum! we're getting married at Dreams Los Cabos as well. And like everyone has said, it kind of depends on what you want, and how detail oriented you are. You can easily spend the same amount of money that you would in Toronto, but factor in that you will also be there for a week, not a day. We initially were going to have a winter wedding in Lake Louise, and it was going to cost us about $30,000 just for the food, drinks, cake, etc...on the wedding day. We're now planning to spend close to that, but we're also getting the photographer, transportation etc...plus a whole week away with our family. Just do some research on this forum and with Dreams directly and see what you find.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
