Cocktail Decorations?

Recommended Posts

My wedding is taking place at Dreams Cancun this May. Now the ceremony will be taking place at the gazebo followed by the coctkail reception to be held steps away at the terrace. The tables are for standing at (probably about 6 tables) with some loungy seating around. My question is for those who did have the cocktail hour, and those who plan to, are there additional decorations involved?

The tables again are small circular standing tables that are covered in white lines tied somehow at the bottom...I've seen pics and visited the resort.

I was thinking something simple like add a small square place mat (cloth or wicker like material) in one of my colors to be put in the center of the tables. Possibly small vase with few loose flowers. What are your thoughts? Is this not necessary or worth it?

I even found a cool vase that case serve two purposes (at cocktail tables and later surround the reception area) first it holds flowers, and then it has a second piece that can be inserted into vase that turns it into a candle holder....

What have y'all done?

I am not planning any extra decor for our cocktail hour. I mean, we're getting married on the beach at a beautiful resort that is well landscaped & has a beautiful pool/patio area. I think this is totally enough for me. Sorry not to be any help. I guess it depends on how involved or relaxed you want your wedding to be. Me, I'm going for relaxed.

i don't think i will do any decor for the cocktail hour just because i dont think anyone will really notice them that much...everyone will be busy taking pics and just running around, so i say save the money and put it towards ur reception dinner

I think what you've decided will suffice. Granted that guests will be there for an hour, minimal decor if any is needed.

We are doing the specialty bar menu on mini easels and probably a loosse bloom around that. Depending on what your colors are you can probably pull some (sp) bougonviella from the trees and use that.

Don't stress it and if it's a budget thing... let that be the first thing you cut.

Another idea: martini or margarita glass with a single flower.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
