Who's NOT getting screwed by their resort?

Recommended Posts

I just got back from Dreams Tulum (review coming soon) and I couldn't believe how they didn't charge me for all the extras I requested or changes I made. I had the free package so they made no money off my wedding (and we only had 5 rooms booked) and still did the exact opposite of nickle and dime me.

So far we are impressed with the communication with our planner at the Royal. We chose the Royal because we had been there before and loved it. We love the location. And guests don't have to stay at the Royal if its too pricey; there are 2 sister hotels with in walking distance that are much cheaper. The only thing is that the plate charge for the dinner is $10 bucks more if they are staying at the sister hotel. The Royal might be worth a look. Good luck!!! I hope it works out!

Our resort is an AI, and while the cost for guests to attend is reasonable .... the extra fees that are added in to our cost of the ceremony asnd reception are pretty high. So much for an "affordable" DW. I stopped keeping count of our budget b/c it blew out the window ... but I'd say we are looking at about $25k instead of the $18K we had hoped for.

You probably want to specify that this is Dreams Cancun and not Dreams Tulum! (people may notice in your info on the left, but just to be sure, especially for the new people still choosing resorts!)

We are getting married at the Moon Palace in July. As far as guests are concerned, I think we're getting a great deal. Its $1,450 per person for 10 nights, AI plus a bunch of free tours. The wedding itself is a bit more difficult. I bought the ceremony package that includes bridal flowers and a cake. There are extra costs depending on the flowers you choose, extra costs for a non-basic cake. There are costs for the food, DJ, decorations and just about everything else. Its going to be a bit more expensive than we first imagined, but nothing compared to what we would have paid in the States. Plus we have been to the hotel before and just love it. To us its worth the extra costs and our guests have not complained too much about the prices.

We got great prices and service from our hotel - Aqua. They have been so accomodating to our needs and requests and so far we have been more than pleased!

We will however be staying at another resort for the stay - I have heard that ME Cancun offers good group deals!

my main complaint with the PRM was that everything for the wedding was $$$ extra...but the room rates for our guests were comparable with other resorts in the area...which in January, means pretty freaking high :)

We're going with Dreams Tulum and just sent out STDs this morning so we're happy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
