Hi Ladies, Its been awhile since I've been on this site and I'm very sad to say its to report disturbing news.  I just read about a bride who drowned while having her pictures taken by a waterfall.  The article is here: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/bride-dies-waterfall-plunge-021733081.html

I am sharing this, because like many destination brides, I also had a trash the dress session by the beach.  I absolutely love my pictures and am very happy we did one.  However, we quickly moved from thigh high to only ankle high in the water.  My dress was very quickly becoming saturated with water and extremely heavy.  Had I gone up to my knees or stayed at the thigh height, I could easily have been carried away.  I couldn't even get out of the water on my own.  My husband had to lift the dress in the back.

I wore my knock-off dress that was A-line with an extremely long cathedral train.  It was made out of Organza fabric and full of beading.

I'm attaching a couple of my pictures so you'll how little we were in the water by the last picture.  If you were thinking about doing a trash the dress session - I highly recommend it.  It's fun and the pictures are always great.  Just please be careful.  Have fun, but be careful.

Erin

Hey brides - anyone have any luck (or try to) smuggling 15.5 year olds into the Royal? The only "child" coming to our wedding is my fiance's amost 16-year old brother, and so far all of our guests are staying at the Royal. Hoping they'll make an exception/turn a blind eye to him staying there. He's 6 ft tall, so you'd never know - the kid looks 18 and is as polite as can be....

My husbands cousin had just turned 16, literally days before the wedding, and is really tall and looks older but they didn't even question him. He checked in with his parents and had no issue. At least with us, they didn't ask for his ID or anything. You should be fine.

Thanks for sharing - that does make me feel better!

For anyone else that comes after me and has the same Q, I received an insider tip from someone associated with the hotel who said to just have my TA book him as 16, and that they won't ask for documentation when he arrives. Just FYI in case anyone else runs into the same issue! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
