Aww JHarris,

It's almost your time! I wish you the best of luck and may your wedding be beautiful! Don't worry, it was forecast to rain every day the week of my wedding and not a drop except for 10 min shower one day.

I have enjoyed seeing everyones pictures on here and reading about your weddings.  I have a couple of questions that I am sure some of you could answer.

1.  When would you recommend making contact with the local florist in Playa for a March wedding?  Is there just Marvin or are there others?  What is their contact information?

2.  What is the average amount spent on the OOT bags....my fiance and I were thinking about $50.  Too low or too high?

3.  Has anyone done a catamaran excursion?  We will probably have about 70 guests and would like to hear your opinions on them if you have done it.

I am sure I will think of so many more but I just love this website and all the ladies that have shared their planning tips and ideas!

Congratulations to all you summer brides, my fiance and I saw about 3 take place there in late may and they were all gorgeous!

Andrea

Hi Andrea!  Welcome to the Royal Playa Del Carmen forum!

Here's my best shot at your questions:

1.)  I just went with the vendors at The Royal (except photographer, we are using Ivan Luckie...he is AWESOME!!).  Our whole rationale was to limit the stress as much as possible and the hotel does a great job coordinating all the vendors they use, from what I can tell.  Having too many people to contact and set up contracts with is stressful!  Let your Royal Wedding Coordinator do that!

2.)  We have 80 people coming, so we're figuring about 40 bags.  $10 a bag already puts us at $400...so we will try our best to stick to $10 to 20.  If you have far less people you can be more extravagant, its up to you.

3.)  Yes!  We are doing a "Rehearsal Catamaran" the day before on board the Catamaya for about 75 people.  It includes a steak/lobster lunch and snorkling, as well as open bar.  SO excited!!!  The point of having a DW was to get our two families to "bond" since they live so far away, and we thought an adventure like this would be perfect.  Every wedding I've been to that had little events leading up to the big day were my most memorable, everyone really gets to know one another and party!  So fun!

Kelly,

I found the white bedsheet wrapped gazebo columns look too plain. I basically make turquoise organza flowers (by hand) and then glue them on 10m of ribbon. Technically, you can buy the butterflies and seashells on etsy and glue them on a ribbon.  I will wrap the 2 frontal columns at the gazebo with the garlands, and will do the ceremony there.  If I have the time, I will make more garlands...but I have to be realistic about my DIY ability! lol.  I will post the pics once I am done.

Hi Ladies,

I aint been on for a while but Ive just past the year to go mark, so im getting into wedding mode again. My invites are about to go out and im starting dress shopping at the weekend!

Ive loved catching up with the thread and seeing the great reviews/ photos, gets me so excited. Congrats to all the recent brides and good luck to the the brides coming up, looks like your next Jozee84!

Jennifer, you are definatly not a bridezilla, I would be freeking out! Why on earth would u die ur hair hot pink just before a wedding, especially when your BM. Maybe she just got carried away and when she realises it aint gonna go with the dress she may change it back, fingers crossed for ya.

This time next year will be my first day as a MRS. eeeek x

Hello my fellow Royal Brides!!

We are leaving tomorrow (sunday) at 9am. I found some generic numbers on word and printed them on nice paper. We have family checking for us Monday in case they arrive. But if not - I have backup.

So ready for Mexico!!! The weather is starting to look alot better ladies. At least no storms just some rain here and there.

I will be taking tons of pics!!! Can't wait to see JoZee down there. We'll be in rm 292.

Can't wait!!!

Went NUTS on Out of Town bag shopping today.  I bought the following:

1.) cute re-usable tote bags on amazon.com that fold into a strawberry (1.80 each)

2.)  hand sanitzers (.50 at Dollar Tree)

3.)  Soduko puzzle books (1.00 each at Dollar Tree)

4.)  Excedrin packets (website somewhere...)

5.)  Gatorade packets (website...)

6.)  Pepto Bismo (website...)

7.)  CD labels and cases to make CD's of all our music

8.)  Room key card holders with lanyards

Woo-hoo!  I'm slowly becoming one of THOSE brides and I love it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
